Many often overlook a restaurant known as Christina’s. It’s nestled within Mondrian Singapore Duxton, and the area has its share of amazing restaurants—Araya, for example, is located within the same hotel.

Now, you might want to start paying attention to them. The all-day dining restaurant has recently revamped its menu, featuring one that’s Mediterranean-inspired and filled with coastal influences. Under the stewardship of Chef Federico Scordo, who has a career spanning Rome and London, the restaurant and food now aims to bring diners on a journey.
New Mediterranean-Inspired Menu at Christina’s

The menu is quite seafood-forward, featuring fresh and seasonal ingredients like grains, tomatoes, beets and onions, elevated by fresh herbs, spices and house made dressings. There’s a nice spread of small plates, starters, mains and desserts – to encourage communal dining.
Some items you can expect are Mozzarella Kataifi ($15), Watermelon & Feta Salad ($18), Mediterranean Sea Bass ($60), Seafood Paella ($40), Roasted Spatchcock ($35) and a Greek Panna Cotta ($14).
Here are some dishes we tried:

Christina’s Crushed Potatoes ($14) is a dish that’s a great starter, featuring roasted baby potatoes on top of a bright beetroot hummus with aioli and balsamic glaze. It’s nicely balanced and would go well with drinks.
A must-try is their Pizza Fritta ($25), which is a panko-coated fried pizza with mortadella, pesto, stracciatella and pistachios. The idea of fried pizza might sound very heavy and cloying, but the dough was surprisingly light, and it made me want to go for seconds.
Mains at Christina’s

The Traditional Carbonara ($25) is a relatively safe choice if you don’t know what to get. The use of rigatoni pasta was quite interesting, but since the dish isn’t the sauciest, some pieces of rigatoni felt underwhelming, maybe linguine or spaghetti would’ve been a better choice – considering the name of the dish.
I was not expecting the Gambas al Ajillo ($34) to look like that, especially when I see the words Gambas. But, the wood-fired king prawns were really well executed: smoky, juicy and still had a natural sweetness to them.
The Lamb Ras el Hanout ($55) was served with couscous, roasted bell peppers and tzatziki. While the lamb was slightly gamey for my liking, the couscous with roasted bell peppers was such a great side.
Desserts were a highlight for me, as I would come back just for their Pistachio Tiramisu ($16). It’s simple, featuring ladyfingers soaked in espresso, layered with mascarpone cheese and Italian pistachio cream. The nuttiness of the pistachio is just right, and makes you go for another scoop.
Banana and chocolate lovers would enjoy the ChocoBanana ($16), a vegan dessert featuring 70% chocolate and banana semifreddo. The whiff of banana is quite strong at the start but mellows down thanks to the chocolate.
New Dining Spot in Duxton
Apart from the food, Christina’s also has an extensive drinks menu, with exclusive cocktails such as a Solero Daiquiri ($22) that tasted exactly like the iconic neon green ice cream, along with their version of an Espresso Martini made using tequila and is topped with parmesan cheese.
With what Christina’s is now offering, I definitely see myself returning to try their other menu offerings. But one thing’s for sure, if I’m ever nearby the area and looking for a dessert spot, I would drop by for their Pistachio Tiramisu and maybe enjoy a cocktail or two.
Note: Christina’s serves a simple breakfast menu in the morning till 12pm, so most of the things mentioned above are only available from 12pm till late (last order 10pm)
