The Editor’s Market has just opened their flagship store over at Takashimaya, and located within the premises is Cafe Found, a place that reminded us of cafes in Korea.
Interior Goals
Much like how Plain Vanilla is located within In Good Company over at ION, Cafe Found follows a similar concept and is located within The Editor’s Market in Takashimaya.
The space is decorated with lots of elements that can easily be spotted in Korean cafes such as the tiled floor, metal panels, and granite coffee counter. There are 9 tables here, which can sit roughly 18-20 pax.
Cafe Found Menu
The cafe serves items like pastries, loaves and desserts and are all displayed on the counter. At one glance, you can see how the pastries/desserts look like and pick the one that you’re most attracted to.
Pick from items like the Brioche Feuilletée ($7), Black Garlic Sourdough ($5.5) and Croissant with Truffle Dip ($6.5). There is also a range of loaves to choose from, such as the Lemon Loaf ($5.5), Banana Loaf ($5.5) and Coconut Loaf ($5.5).
Drinks-wise, they have a comprehensive range of coffee and teas. Matcha lovers can enjoy matcha-based drinks made using Niko Neko matcha, such as Sparkling Matcha ($7) and Matcha Latte ($6/7).
More interesting drinks include Coconut Blue Pea Dirty ($7), Espresso Con Panna ($6) and Orange Espresso Soda ($6.5).
Black Truffle Pie
You can find Elijah Pies’ Black Truffle Pie ($9.5) which is loaded with portobello mushrooms, hazelnuts, custard, parmesan cheese and mashed potato. We got a whiff of the truffle within the first bite, and we loved how the ingredients added a nice crunch to the dish.
Matcha Layered Cake
One of our favourites from their range of treats is the Matcha Layered Cake ($8). There are alternate layers of matcha ganache, cream cheese, and a bottom macadamia crunch.
There’s a nice matcha fragrance and a slightly bitter aftertaste from the matcha powder topping.
Dark Chocolate Loaf
The Dark Chocolate Loaf ($5.5) was pretty dense, rich in chocolate flavour, and skewed slightly towards the sweeter side.
Lemon Loaf
We were glad that the Lemon Loaf ($5.5) came with a drizzle of cream the loaf itself was on the drier side. The citrusy flavour really came through and was rather refreshing.
Earl Grey Lavender Loaf
Topped with a fig, one would have never guessed this to be the Earl Grey Lavender Loaf ($5.5). We felt the floral notes of the lavender slightly overshadowed the earl grey tea flavour.
Sesame Dirty
The Sesame Dirty ($8.5) is a drink that’s rather popular in Korea and is not easily found in Singapore. Cafe Found’s version is made with sesame cream, espresso and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
We loved how balanced the sesame and coffee flavours were, with the nuttiness of the sesame really shining through.
Iced White
The Iced White ($6.5) is made using honey-processed single-origin beans from Colombia, Valle Del Cauca. If you’re opting for a black coffee, they use fully-washed Ethiopia Guji Bensa beans. We loved how the coffee ended up with a bright, berry note.
Aesthetic Cafe in Orchard
Takashimaya has seen lots of new cafe openings recently such as Cafe Q Classified. Shoppers (especially those visiting The Editor’s Market) can now enjoy a quick cuppa before continuing with their shopping date.
