Located on the 2nd floor in the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood, most might unknowingly pass by Borderless Coffee Co. It’s located along the popular street filled with Korean restaurants, so you probably won’t expect a cafe to appear here.
This space is home to Borderless Coffee Co during the day, and it transforms to A Place To (APT) once the sun sets – a place for cocktails and unwind.
Cafe in Tanjong Pagar
The space is divided into several areas, the most prominent of which is the couch area. Here, you will find comfortable sofas, a circular sofa bed, and several small tables.
There’s also a bar counter design that naturally allows seating for groups of 2 to 3, along with a high communal table with high chairs. Seeing how the space is also a bar at night, the design works really well.
Borderless Coffee Co. Menu
The cafe’s menu is rather simple. Only three espresso-based drinks are available: White ($5.50), Black ($4.50), and Mocha ($6.50). For non-coffee drinks, there is a Chocolate drink ($6.50) and Strawberry Milk ($6). Interestingly, it’s the only item on the menu has Korean wording.
They also serve artisanal tea and a range of Japanese teas (Matcha, Houjicha, and Genmaicha) sourced from Niko Neko Matcha.
For desserts, we tried the Sticky Date Pudding, which is priced at an affordable $4. Size-wise, it might not compare to other places selling the dessert, but it was just nice for a quick bite.
The pudding wasn’t too dense or dry, and the toffee drizzle added a nice touch of sweetness to the dessert. The walnuts added a nice crunch, so each bite wasn’t too boring. For $4, this went above our expectations.
They also had financiers in a cute, petite, circular shape. They come in three Flavours: chocolate, fig, and cream cheese, and a black sesame one. Each piece is $3.2, but a set of three costs $9.
Of the three, we particularly enjoyed the black sesame. Its texture was reminiscent of cake, yet it was well-balanced and not overly dry. The financier contained a hint of black sesame filling, which reminded us of tangyuan!
Drinks-wise, the Iced Black was well rounded, but the Iced Houjicha didn’t quite impress.
