Philly Cheesesteak
The Philly Cheesesteak ($26) was the most memorable dish we tried. It had a good portion of tender marinated grilled beef that paired well with the savoury cheese. We also really liked the bread, which was crunchy and added a pleasant tang from the sourdough base.
Jian Bing Breakfast Burrito
The Jian Bing Breakfast Burrito ($16) is a take on the popular Chinese breakfast dish. It was filled with Australian beef and crisp bean sprouts, which added an enjoyable crunch. The creamy sauce provided a nice sweetness!
Spicy “Pino Colada” Red Snapper
The Spicy “Pino Colada” Red Snapper ($45) is inspired by the popular Puerto Rican cocktail. It was served with a house-made basil oil and pina colada sauce. While we enjoyed the flaky texture of the fish , it fell flat for us as the meat could have been more seasoned. The sauce could also be punchier for a stronger flavour to complement the tender fish.
Lamb Shawarma Pizza
The lamb in the Lamb Shawarma Pizza ($28) is marinated for 12 hours in a blend of Middle Eastern spices and sous-vided for 24 hours.
Despite not typically being big fans of lamb, we were pleasantly surprised! It was not gamey at all; tender and well-seasoned with a flavour profile similar to Chinese chuan chuan. The sourdough crust was soft and pillowy, which carried the heavier flavours well.
Mapo Tofu Lasagna
This Mapo Tofu Lasagna ($21) surprised us with the Chinese-Italian fusion. The mapo tofu gravy was punchy but fragrant, with just the right amount of numbness. We would gladly have it on its own with rice! Overall, we enjoyed it, but it would be even better if the lasagna sheet was slightly thinner.
Berries & Cream Waffle
End your meal with their Berries & Cream Waffle ($18), a thick and fluffy waffle topped with their house-made raspberry sauce. The slight tang from the raspberry sauce perfectly balanced out the sweetness of the Blue Pea Hokkaido Crème Brûlée ice cream we had.
Drinks
The Berry Coffee ($8) is made with cold-filtered Colombian beans, mixed with house-made raspberry and black currant purée. It came unsweetened and was refreshing, though we think it could definitely do with a stronger berry flavour.
We also tried the Kaffir Lime-Lemongrass Sencha Tea ($9) with striking layers. This was also refreshing with a pleasant citrus fragrance, but once again, it could be more concentrated.
