Lao Huo Tang located in Tampines Mall has recently launched an exciting new concept stall! They’ve added two 8-seater VIP rooms, perfect for a private dining experience with friends or family, and there’s no minimum spending required.
Lao Huo Tang Signature Menu
Lao Huo Tang’s new concept store is introducing some exciting dishes, including Claypot Vermicelli with Prawn ($25.80), Coffee Pork Ribs ($14.80), Crispy Baby Squid ($13.80), and Wasabi Prawn ($19.80). For dessert, you can try their Crispy Red Bean Paste Pancake ($8.80) or their Signature Orh Nee ($6.80).
The store also offers original favourites such as the Apple & Snow Pear Soup with Pork Ribs ($12.80), Salted Pepper Prawn Balls ($19.80) and Deep Fried Grouper in Black Bean Sauce ($23.80).
Other speciality options include Handmade Crispy Tofu with Minced Meat ($17.80) and Honey Glazed Eggplant ($10.80).
Garlic Prawn With Vermicelli
The Garlic Prawn With Vermicelli ($25.80) featured a distinct garlicky profile, with sweet prawns and vermicelli soaked in a savoury sauce. The vermicelli was soft and absorbed the flavours of the sauce well.
Handmade Seafood Beancurd
The Handmade Seafood Beancurd ($19.80) featured a crispy exterior with a soft, firm, tofu-like interior along with a subtle seafood flavour. The beancurd was slightly salty but wasn’t too overwhelming when paired with a bowl of rice.
Ice Plant With Sesame Sauce
The Ice Plant with Sesame Sauce ($11.80), though not a common dish in Chinese cuisine, was both crunchy and refreshing. The crisp ice plant tossed in a fragrant sesame sauce complemented the rich and hearty flavours of the other dishes.
Classic Menu Items
Lotus Root Soup With Pork Rib Soup
The classic Lotus Root Soup with Pork Rib Soup ($13.80) was well-stewed, offering a rich and flavorful broth. The pork ribs were succulent and had just the right amount of fat. The lotus root provided a slight crunch and added texture, complementing the ample ingredients in the soup. We thought this paired well with their fragrant pumpkin rice.
Creamy Butter Pork
The Creamy Butter Pork ($15.80) was one of our favourite items! It was well-executed, with tender pork cubes coated in a creamy butter sauce. The richness of the butter enveloped each piece of pork, while the addition of curry leaves added an aromatic curry fragrance that enhanced the overall flavour profile!
Spinach With Salted Egg & Century Egg
The Spinach with Salted Egg & Century Egg ($17.80) was a comforting dish that had the warmth of home-cooked meals. The spinach was tender and lightly seasoned, complementing the rich, savoury flavours of the salted egg and the distinctive, umami flavour of the century egg.
Mango Pomelo Sago
We ended the meal with their Mango Pomelo Sago ($6.80) which had just the right amount of sweetness. It featured mango sago topped with diced mango that was less ripe, providing a crunchy texture and a slight tanginess reminiscent of Thai mango salad.
The dessert was served with a slightly bitter pomelo and sweet mango shaved ice base, offering a refreshing and balanced ending to the meal.
