Royal Host, a leading Japanese family restaurant chain with over 50 years of history, has arrived at Jewel Changi Airport! The chain was made famous with its menu of Japanese and Western fusion comfort food.

Aside from their signature offerings, the menu also has a wide variety of options including appetisers like Pork Sausage & Onion Rings ($15.80) and Mixed Seafood Marinade ($16.80) to pasta specialities like Mushroom & Porcini Cream Sauce ($27.80) and Salmon & Ikura Tomato Cream Sauce ($30.80).
Grilled items like the Pork Loin Steak ($27.80) and Prawn and Snow Crab ($36.40) are also available for those seeking a heartier option.
“ROYAL” Hamburg Steak
The signature dish is the “ROYAL” Hamburg Steak ($29.80). It came with a juicy Japanese-style patty on a hotplate with two sauce options – black pepper and brown butter.
The patty was thick and juicy, with a nice meaty texture that was neither too firm nor too soft. Each bite had a satisfying meaty bite to it, with savoury juices that coated the palate.
We preferred the black pepper sauce which offered a satisfying kick, perfect for those who love a bit of heat. Although it’s a little bit on the saltier side, pairing it with their white rice balances it off.
“ROYAL” Omurice with Demiglace Sauce
The “ROYAL” Omurice with Demiglace Sauce ($26.80) was our favourite! We loved the fluffy scrambled egg on top of the well-seasoned ketchup rice. The eggs were light and airy, with just a hint of creaminess.
The rich demiglace sauce was the cherry on top with its savoury flavour. Each bite offered a satisfying combination of textures and tastes, with a generous portion of scrambled eggs that were enough to pair with every mouthful of rice.
“ROYAL” Onion Gratin Soup
The “ROYAL” Onion Gratin Soup ($7.80) had good flavours and textures. It was packed with caramelized onions, bringing an enjoyable sweetness that balanced well with the savoury broth. The onions were cooked to a soft, melt-in-your-mouth consistency, and the melted cheese added a nice saltiness!
Mocktails
We tried the Singapore Sling ($11.50), which captured the essence of Singapore’s famous cocktail without the alcohol! It was sweet and had a strong tropical fruit flavour, perfect for a hot day.
This Lychee Rose ($10.50) mocktail was light and not overly sweet. The blend of lychee red tea with soda water was refreshing, complete with a subtle rose aftertaste.
HOT Fudge Sunday
The Hot Fudge Sunday ($18.40) was the perfect way to cap off our meal. It featured a base of vanilla and chocolate gelato with a side of hot fudge sauce. The finishing touch was the caramelized pecan nuts, which added a crunch and nuttiness to the enjoyable combination of ice cream and chocolate.

Royal Host offers an unpretentious and fuss-free selection of Japanese-Western comfort food in a casual comforting setting. The friendly service and wide variety of menu options make it a great option for a satisfying meal before your flight!
