With more than 50 outlets across Japan, Warabimochi Kamakura has opened its first Singapore and Southeast Asian branch at One Holland Village! They will be opening their second location at Taste Orchard, expected to open around February.
Warabimochi Kamakura Menu
Warabimochi is a jelly-like mochi known for its silky and stretchy texture. It is usually served with a generous dusting of nutty kinako soybean powder and a sweet drizzle of kuromitsu sugar syrup.
Warabimochi Kamakura makes their mochi fresh every day, available in boxes of 5 or 10 pieces ($7.90 for 5, $14.90 for 10). For those looking for a quick treat, there are Warabimochi Cups containing 2 pieces ($3.90), with the option to add ice cream for an extra indulgence!
Our personal favourite was the Strawberry Yogurt ($7.90). It featured a strawberry-flavoured warabimochi base, which made it unique. The yogurt struck just the right balance between sweet and tangy, without being overly thick!
For those who might not be keen on yoghurt, there’s the Strawberry Milk ($9.90) option, offering a lighter taste alternative.
If you’re a fan of Matcha, the Asakawa-en Matcha ($5.90 for Small, $7.90 for Medium) is a must-try! Made with matcha powder sourced from Asakawa-en, the drink is smooth with subtle grassy notes and a slightly bitter aftertaste. It was quite addictive.
They also have Coffee Milk ($5.90 for Small, $7.90 for Medium) had a lighter, creamier flavour that’s not too bitter. They use an original blend of European coffee beans that paired well with the warabimochi!
If you’re not a fan of matcha, you can try the Tenku No Hojicha ($5.90 for Small, $7.90 for Medium). It had a distinct roasted flavour and a subtle hint of sweetness.
Warabimochi in Singapore
The warabimochi drinks are novel and actually delicious, definitely worth a try if you’re in the area! The shop doesn’t offer any indoor seating but you can find shared outdoor seating areas within the mall, providing a cosy spot to enjoy the warabimochi treats at your leisure.
