It took me more than a year to visit Club Rangoon, a restaurant along Duxton Road that offers a glimpse into Burmese cuisine. Oh, how I regret taking so long.
The 39-seater is helmed by Chef “Noom” Charrinn Singdaechakarn, who presents a menu inspired by co-founder Nelson Htoo’s family recipes paired with thoughtfully crafted cocktails.
Modern Burmese Food in Singapore

I have passed by Club Rangoon a couple of times, and the restaurant’s exterior always piqued my curiosity. Inside, the space feels really inviting, and I especially loved the table near the entrance.
It’s definitely a great space to wine and dine, or indulge in one of their cocktails, many of which incorporate fermentation and pickling techniques, and feature ingredients commonly found in Myanmar.
The menu at Club Rangoon features a couple of starters and mains, ranging from hearty soups and curries to more.
What We Tried at Club Rangoon

To start, I had the Laphet Hummus ($14), which featured warm pita and a drizzle of tea leaf oil. It was slightly different from the usual hummus due to the fermented tea leaves and tea leaf oil, which added a nice herbaceous note.

There was also the Short Rib Skewers ($18/2pcs) which was delicious. It’s served with a Burmese chimichurri and pennywort salad, and everything just came together nicely. Definitely highly recommend trying!

The Ohn-No Khout Swel ($20) presented familiar flavours. It was basically a bowl of coconut chicken curry with egg noodles, served with yellow rice crackers and lime. I thought it was decent, but it didn’t feel much different from the usual curry noodles I’d have from time to time.
For something substantial, I highly recommend the Wet Thar Dan Bauk ($34), a Burmese-style biryani with pork knuckle! It’s served with a green mango salad that helps balance the fattiness of the pork knuckle.
The Laphet-yay Ice Cream ($14) is a perfect way to wrap up your meal at Club Rangoon. The Burmese milk tea ice cream was so fragrant, and pairs amazing with the banana jaggery crumble.

Club Rangoon offers a nice peek into modern Burmese cuisine. It’s a nice spot to bring a date when you want to switch things up a bit, or for intimate gatherings with friends and family.
If you’re feeling adventurous, Club Rangoon even has a “Let Chef Noom Cook” menu for $58++ per pax, where you simply let them know your dietary requirements and they’ll take care of the rest.
