Cheeky Signatures is a casual dining concept led by ex-fine dining chef Darwin Wong, and they just opened their newest outlet at Macpherson Mall!
Backed by a team of chefs with fine-dining experience, the eatery focuses on affordable Singaporean dishes like bee hoon and satay with a refined twist.
Retro-Inspired Interior
The space is styled with vintage 1970s decor, featuring retro signboards, classic wooden benches, and an old-school telephone booth.
It’s worth noting that MacPherson Mall is relatively quiet. It’s not the most convenient location unless you live or work nearby, but for those willing to make the trip, Cheeky Signatures offers a solid option for affordable, well-executed local dishes.
Cheeky Signatures Menu
The main menu features set dishes like Lala with Sliced Pork ($8.80), the signature Cheeky Signature bowl ($11.90), and Braised Pork ($8).
Diners can customize their meal by choosing between rice or noodles, with noodle options including Mee Kia, Crystal Bee Hoon, and Handmade Bee Hoon. Each dish is available in either dry or soup form, and for those who enjoy an extra kick, XO sauce can be added for an additional $2.
Other highlights include side dishes like Braised Mushroom on Crispy Tofu ($3.80), Braised Pork Belly ($4.80), and Fresh Crab Handmade Dumpling ($4.80).
Fish Maw with Sliced Pork
The Fish Maw with Sliced Pork ($8.80) soup was very nourishing and rich in flavour. It comes with tender pork slices with fish maw, and it’s a collagen-packed bowl that’s light yet flavourful.
Sliced Fish with Minced Pork
We had the Sliced Fish with Minced Pork ($8.80) served with handmade bee hoon in the spicy umami soup option.
The broth was rich and flavourful, but the spice level was barely noticeable. The fish was fresh with no fishy aftertaste, and the handmade bee hoon added a soft, springy texture.
Sides
Cheeky Satay
The satay offerings come in a variety of options, with chicken and pork priced at $1 per stick, and beef and mutton both at $1.20 each. The satay rice is also available for $1.20.
We particularly enjoyed the satay sauce, which was rich and flavorful, perfectly complementing the tender, well-grilled meat.
Tempura Lotus Roots
The Tempura Lotus Roots ($3.80) are crisp, lightly battered slices of lotus root. It’s available in three flavours – original, mala, and salted egg.
We tried the salted egg flavour and we really enjoyed it! It’s crunchy and has just the right amount of seasoning on it. Definitely a great add-on for something to share at the table.
Fresh Crab Handmade Dumpling
The Fresh Crab Handmade Dumpling ($4.80) comes with a crisp shell that delivers a crunch with each bite. It’s packed with fresh crab meat and adds a nice savoury flavour.
