Fancy a cup of coffee while you browse at cars? It sounds like a weird mix of activities, but the new Audi x Burnt Ends Bakery outlet in Telok Ayer offers this experience!
The bakery concept from Michelin-starred restaurant Burnt Ends has opened another outlet in the Audi House of Progress, with new items on their menu.
Audi x Burnt Ends Bakery Menu
Their regular menu, including their famous Doughnuts ($6, all flavours), is still available. The flavours include Pistachio, Smoked Yuzu and Strawberry. They also have dessert pies, savoury bakes like a Ham & Cheese Croissant ($10).
There’s a selection of espresso, filter and cold brew coffee options starting from $4.25. For non-coffee alternatives, choose from tea, sparkling juices and gorilla press juices.
Outlet-Exclusive Items
There are outlet-exclusive items as well! These have German influences, inspired by Audi. The Pretzel ($6) had a recognisable crusty brown exterior.
This was hard to bite but we liked the added fragrance from the herbs coated on the outside.
There are two new doughnut flavours: Apple Strudel ($6) and Black Forest ($7). The Apple Strudel had a dense filling of apples and raisins, but we wished the apple flavour was more prominent.
We liked the Black Forest doughnut! It had a dense and rich chocolate filling that wasn’t too sweet.
The cherry is infused with kirsch (liquor) so you can expect a small hit of alcohol, balanced out by the sweetness from the vanilla bean chantilly.
Savoury Bakes
The Roast Beef Sandwich ($18) impressed us! Between the soft bread, tender beef and savoury sauce; this was a solid sandwich.
There’s also Pizza ($10) and we tried a Cheeseburger-inspired slice. This came with bacon beef marmalade and house pickles on top a fluffy pizza base.
The flavours leaned on the sweet side which might not to be everyone’s taste. However, the rich fattiness paired well with the bread and sweet pickles.
Drinks
The menu of signature beverages is also worth the order. Our pick is the Clarified Coffee Milk Punch ($10).
The drink looked deceivingly clear but was infused with flavours! It almost didn’t feel like coffee other than the addition of cold brew. There were notes of coconut milk and passionfruit which made it refreshing.
We also tried the Tiramisu Latte ($10), which tasted like dessert in a drink. The cream topping included mascarpone and made it extra decadent.
Bonus: GT Bar
There’s a speakeasy bar concept across the bakery called GT Bar, which also offers German-inspired bar fare.
One of these is the “Black Forest” cocktail, inspired by the dessert. This had a gorgeous magenta colour, with a smokiness and a sweetness from the cherry!
