TL;DR
MOZmoji is a cafe in Chinatown that also retails handmade ceramic pieces. Their menu includes housemade desserts, specialty drinks and pour over coffee with prices ranging from $6.80 to $15.80. While the prices are on the higher side and there is minimal seating, we liked the overall ambience and thoughtful desserts.
Tucked away on the second floor with a hidden side entrance is MOZmoji陌迹, a new cafe in Chinatown that’s part cafe and part ceramics shop. We spotted it on Google Maps and decided to head down to see what the quaint spot had to offer.
Cottagecore Aesthetic Meets Ceramic Store

We know the phrase ‘hidden gem’ might elicit a response from some people, but MOZmoji really is quite hidden.
The entrance is flush on the side of the building with the Cantonese Opera Wall Mural by Yip Yew Chong, right beside the Sri Mariamman Temple.
Look for the golden logo and head up the stairs; the actual cafe space is on the second floor.

You’re first greeted by a dazzling display of ceramics, ranging from cups to bowls and trinkets. There’s also a second floor with more wares to check out.
These are a curated list of handmade wares by various artists from China and all available for purchase.

There’s a cosy corner with counter seating where you can watch the staff prepare your coffee and desserts.
It’s an eclectic, almost dreamy space. The walls are decorated with flowy linens and lamps, perfectly framed by a window with warm sunshine streaming in throughout the day. Feels almost like we were transported overseas!
However, space is also its biggest shortcoming. There is very limited seating, with a maximum capacity of about 10 people.
We understand from their social media that the cafe has received complaints regarding its slow service. With the small team of three staff and minimal seating, please anticipate longer wait times!
MOZmoji Menu

Aside from classic espresso drinks like Americano ($6.80) and Latte ($7.80), they have a selection of speciality drinks.
Look forward to cream-topped drinks like Pistachio Vienna ($12.80) and Hojicha Vienna ($11.80), alongside hand-brewed coffee with beans from Hong Kong.
There’s the fruity Elto Elora 74158 Hybrid Handwashed ($12.80) or the jasmine notes of Colombia El Carmen Geisha Washed ($12.80).
Their dessert menu is the highlight. The Cotton Cheesecake ($12.80) is a non-conventional take, but more on that later!
Other sweet treats include a Black Tea Basque ($14.80), Dark Chocolate Mousse ($13.80) and Soy Milk Cheesecake ($14.80).

Something cute you get to do is pick your own ceramics for your drinks and desserts! They have a charming display of mugs and dainty plates to choose from.
Review Of What We Tried At MOZmoji

We first tried the Cotton Cheesecake. Cafe owner Olivia said she was inspired to make this after tasting something similar in Japan.
It was served with a cheese cloth and reminded us of greek yogurt. It tasted like yogurt too, with a slight tang and just lightly sweet with no added sugar.
We wouldn’t call it a cheesecake but it was a pleasant, “healthy”-type treat that’s good with coffee.

If you’re looking for an actual dessert, we recommend the Matcha Strawberry Cake ($15.80).
This had large, fresh strawberries in every slice, pairing well with the lightly bitter and creamy matcha cheesecake layer. It was also not too sweet, which we appreciated!
While it is a sizeable slice, we also note the steep price. It might be best shared.

We also got to try the Matcha Mousse (currently not on the menu). It had a rich, creamy texture and notable matcha flavour, but this was the one dessert we found too sweet.
We gave feedback to the team and they said they would tweak the recipe, which may explain why this item is currently not on the menu.
The Dark Chocolate Mousse ($13.80) might be a good second option.

For drinks, we had the Black Sesame Vienna ($12.80) and Salted Cocoa Latte ($12.80).
Their coffee was surprisingly good – balanced with a rounded roasted flavour that leaned chocolatey instead of acidic, making it the perfect pairing with their sweetened cream tops.
These remind us of drinks from cafes in Korea that’s increasingly popular here, but we think their iterations are well-executed.
MOZmoji is still in its soft opening phase and we hope to see what they offer when they fully open!
Verdict: Is MOZmoji Worth It
Yes, MOZmoji is worth the visit. The cafe had good ambience and cosy aesthetics, alongside the unique selection of ceramics that are actually worth browsing.
However, we do think its pricey for what they are offering. It’s worth a visit, maybe best shared with a friend or two. Please anticipate longer wait times as the team adjusts to their operations leading up to their official opening.
