Herald the Christmas season with the iconic Orchard Road Christmas light-up! Back after 2 years of break from the pandemic, Christmas on A Great Street will see the shopping stretch decked in Christmas lights, ornaments and the beloved Great Christmas Village. Happening from 12 November 2022 to 2 January 2023, you can expect a whole line-up of festivities perfect for the holiday season.
Christmas Lights On Orchard Road
This year’s light-up theme features a show of 3.1km of lights starting at Tanglin Road with a teal and white arch adorned in stars and miniature Ferris wheels. The 104 trees lining up the roadside will also be decorated with energy-saving LED white lights that will also turn pink for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day in 2023!
The star of the show is the main arch along the junction of Orchard Road and Scotts Road with a Christmas tree decorated with a sea of stars, reindeer and baubles. There are also interactive set pieces like a light-up carousel you can stop by and take photos with.
This year’s Christmas light-up also focuses on giving back to the community. The Community Chest Light-Up Ceremony will be held on 12 November 2022 officiated by President Halimah Yacob and held in partnership with Community Chest. Through this light-up, Community Chest hopes to raise funds for more than 100 social service programs that run over 200 critical social service programmes, empowering those in need including children with special needs and seniors and families in need of support.
Augmented Reality Outdoor Projection
Back by popular demand is a 10-minute multimedia 3D projection show with augmented reality (AR) features that will happen each night from 7pm to 10pm on the façade of Mandarin Gallery facing Ngee Ann City. This year, the building facing Somerset will also have its own multimedia 3D projection with a curated Christmas show featuring past light-ups, a multi-tiered rotating carousel, ferris wheel and more in AR!
To enjoy the AR functionalities of the show, you can use the PopAR Live app! There are also other AR displays you can use, including the stretch from ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery with 27 glass panels you can scan to see the key visuals.
Great Christmas Village At Ngee Ann City
No Christmas celebration is complete without a Christmas festival, and same goes this year! The Great Christmas Village makes its return to Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from 7 December 2022 to 2 January 2023, featuring a lineup of live music, food and rides.
The rides include a brand-new all-white carousel, Inflatable Bouncer, Pirate Ship, Teacup and more, plus a whole selection of festive foods from outlets like VeganBurg, Speciality Thai Grills, Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, as well as a beer garden! There’s even a number of pop-ups from brands like Gucci Beauty and Braun Buffel along the walkway from ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery from 12 November 2022.
You can even sign up for exciting art workshops like alcohol ink painting, tapestry weaving, clay modeling, and crafting. Tuck into your food and soak in the festive atmosphere with live music from performers like Jack & Rai, Cold Cut Duo, Daniel Sid and Fyrdaus Macbeth on Friday to Sunday evenings.

Starting on Black Friday, 25 November 2022 until 2 December 2022, the first 200 Mastercard shoppers who spend a minimum of $500 at any of the ten participating malls are eligible to receive $50 mall vouchers, whilst stocks last!
