Since the Singapore weather has been so hot lately, how about digging into some gourmet ice creams? Denmark-based ice cream brand Ekselence has rolled out two new flavours that are unique to their region: EKSELENCEⓇ Apricot Sorbet with Rhubarb Ice Cream and EKSELENCEⓇ Riga Black Balsam & Brownie.
EKSELENCEⓇ Ice Cream And Sorbet Flavours
EKSELENCEⓇ hails from the Baltic and Denmark, focusing on showcasing the best of Latvian milk and cream to provide a rich and flavourful ice cream experience. As such, their flavours are some we cannot usually find in Singapore – starting with the Apricot Sorbet with Rhubarb Ice Cream ($12.90 for 500ml tub).
Rhubarb is a seasonal spring vegetable that has a sweet and tart flavour usually used in pies, cookies and other desserts. Ekselence has paired it with the sweetness of apricots for a well-balanced sweet and floral dessert! The ice cream-sorbet pair makes for a refreshing mouthfeel that isn’t too cloying, but still retains a satisfying creaminess from the high quality milk used.
On the other hand, the Riga Black Balsam & Brownie ($12.90 for a pack of 3 bars) is rich and decadent. It is made with Riga Black Balsam, a traditional Latvian herbal liqueur that has over 17 botanical ingredients infused into it, including Black Pepper, Ginger and Peruvian Balsamic Oil. It’s considered Latvia’s national liqueur! This is paired with a rich chocolate brownie and coated in a crunchy chocolate shell, meant for a luxurious post-dinner treat. The ice cream does come with a 3% alcohol content per bar, so do take note of that.
