There’s a new spot to enjoy KBBQ outside the usual Tanjong Pagar area! Tucked away in a corner of Mandarin Gallery is D’RIM Korean Steak House, specialising in charcoal KBBQ and elevated Korean classics.
Modern Hanok-Style Interior
D’RIM has a striking design, mixing elements of traditional Korean furnishing and modern touches. The first area has an open seating concept where each table has a shared smokeless grill.
A unique offering of D’RIM is freshly milled and made buckwheat items, which you can see at the front of their store! The process is automated but they still use a traditional stone grinder to get buckwheat flour.
There’s also a second area with private rooms and a more intimate setting.
D’RIM Menu
D’RIM has set menus featuring D’RIM Beef Cuts ($189 per pax) and D’RIM Pork Cuts ($139), with options to add beef and pork selections such as Boneless Short Rib ($58), Sirloin ($58), and Iberico Pork Jowl ($36).
Other than meats, they have ala-carte items like Jeju Yukgaejang ($35) and Bibim Naengmyeon ($28)! Dishes including Beef Yukhoe ($43), Japchae ($29), and Oyster Kimchi ($25) are great for sharing.
D’RIM Beef & Pork Set
For BBQ, we tried the D’RIM Beef and Pork Cuts ($169 per pax) that included a variety chef’s preferred cuts such as Chuck Flap and Marinated Pork. The set also came with the Chef’s Special Porridge, Soybean Tofu Stew and a dessert of the day!
The staff will help to grill the meat for you, along with some of the side dishes! We were impressed by the quality of the meats here, with thicker cuts for a better texture.
A memorable cut was the sirloin steak, which was practically melt-in-your-mouth tender despite not being very fatty. It had a clean finish without any gameiness, and a dash of salt or wasabi brought out its flavours even more.
The chuck flap was fattier but had just a little beefiness, depending on your preference for beef. Overall, we liked how well-prepared each cut was.
The marinated pork was our favourite among the three pork cuts. Their marinade was a good balance of sweet and savoury! The other pork cuts are just as enjoyable, and it’s highly recommended to enjoy it with a ssam.
Something we appreciated was the food warmer, which ensured that the meats remained warm throughout the meal.
D’RIM Signature Noodles
D’RIM’s buckwheat dishes are a must-try. D’RIM Signature Noodles ($33) are prepared fresh daily in-house! Coated with a perilla seed sauce, the noodles had aromatic and nutty flavours, with a pleasantly refreshing texture. The combination of the bouncy noodles and crunchy toppings made it super addictive.
Galbitang
We also tried the Galbitang ($36), a comforting and hearty main dish. The broth had a delicate clean taste that we really enjoyed, which was absorbed by the accompanying glass noodles.
The beef short rib was sizeable and also fall apart tender! It was flavourful on its own and didn’t need much sauce.
Buckwheat Cabbage Pancake
One of our favourite items was the Buckwheat Cabbage Pancake ($28). Made with the same house-milled buckwheat flour, it had a pleasant chewiness complemented by the subtle crunch of cabbage and umami of kimchi. The buckwheat added a nice fragrance compared to the regular pancakes, making it more memorable.
