Cafehopping in Korea is a must, and Joyang Textile highlights this perfectly. Situated in a converted textile factory, this Incheon Cafe is among the largest in the country.
Must-Visit Ganghwa-do Cafe
Ganghwa-do used to be a textile manufacturing area, and the space used for the cafe was a textile factory. There’s much to see even before you reach the main cafe seating area. We won’t be surprised if they charge a small entrance fee because of the items on display. It felt almost like a museum.
As you explore the area, some signs and photos highlight the factory’s history. For example, the pond area used to be where fabrics were dyed.
I gasped in awe when I reached the main seating area, as I couldn’t see the end. Probably hundreds of seats were available, with each corner expressing a different vibe. From communal tables that can fit large groups to cozy pairs, there’s a seat for everyone.
The cafe features numerous vintage items, including typewriters, arcade machines, and various electronics. It’s a collector’s paradise, making Joyang Textile resemble a museum.
Joyang Textile Cafe Menu
The drinks range from 7,000won to 8,000won, which is slightly more expensive than at your usual cafes. Even the most standard Americano costs 7,000won. Items include a Coconut Latte (8,000won), a Purple Sweet Potato Latte (8,000won), a Plum Iced Peach Tea (8,000won) and more.
The cafe also sells a variety of bread and pastries, such as Salt Bread (3,000won), Mocha Bread (6,000won), Soft Cream Cheese Buns (5,000won), Fresh Cream Croissants (7,000won), Lemon Madeleines (3,500won), and more.
We tried the Fresh Cream Mont Blanc (8,500won), one of the café’s best-selling items. It features fruits and fresh cream sandwiched between layers of flaky pastry, then topped with even more fresh cream.
The combination of fruit and cream never fails, but the dessert is quite filling, so we recommend sharing this with someone.
Usually, in cafes, you receive a buzzer and go back to your seat to wait for your number to be called. However, here at Joyang Textile, the buzzer doesn’t work once you cross a certain point because the space is so big. Hence, we recommend waiting nearby for your drinks and bakes.
They also have a self-service corner where you can take all your utensils and items. Take the scissors if you’re getting the Fresh Cream Mont Blanc, as using a normal fork and knife will result in a messy situation when attempting to cut the pastry.
Mega Cafe in Korea
If you’re thinking of visiting Incheon, this cafe in Ganghwa-do is definitely worth checking out. The scale of this place was impressive, and there’s so much to see and explore within the cafe itself .
