Ruth’s Chris Steak House in PARKROYAL Marina Bay Serves Up Top 4% US Prime Beef Steaks on 260°C Plates

Steakhouses are aplenty in Singapore, but Ruth’s Chris Steak House is truly one of the most unique ones.

Opened in New Orleans by Founder Ruth Fertel back in 1965, the restaurant started as a humble 60-seat steakhouse but is now serving up its classic steaks in over 21 countries.

The one in Singapore is located in PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay.

Patented Broiling Method

The steakhouse has a classic atmosphere, which feels perfect for various occasions such as date nights and afternoon business meetings.

What sets them apart is their patented broiling method developed by Ruth back in 1967. The steaks are seasoned with salt & pepper before being cooked in a broiler at a temperature of 980°C.

Crab Cakes at Ruth’s Chris Steak House

The establishment has a menu of various steak cuts, ranging from New York Strip, Ribeye, Tomahawk Ribeye to Filets and T-Bone. What they pride themselves in is using only the top 4% of US Prime Graded Beef, so you’re getting good quality.

Apart from the steaks, they have a menu of appetizers that’s slightly more seafood-forward, with items like Barbecued Shrimp ($48), Mushrooms stuffed with Crabmeat ($36) and Oysters Rockefeller ($46). They also have a few salads, alongside a Lobster Bisque ($35) and Soup of the Day ($27).

If you’re not in the mood for beef, they have items like Stuffed Chicken Breast ($68), Thai Chili Salmon ($72), and Ahi-Tuna Stack ($72).

They also have a wide range of sides that complement your mains, such as Creamed Spinach ($25), Mashed Potato ($25) and Mac & Cheese ($25).

Our experience began with complimentary bread and butter while waiting for our dishes to be served.

Our Experience at Ruth’s Chris Steak House

We tried the Sizzlin’ Blue Crab Cakes ($50) which was served on their iconic hot plates, giving us a preview of what awaits us. The crab cakes were made with lots of crab meat, and the squeeze of lemon gave it a nice refreshing kick.

We also tried the Barbecued Shrimp ($48), which featured large shrimp in a sauce made with reduced white wine, butter, garlic, and spices. If we were to pick between the two, we would recommend going for the Crab Cakes.

Ruth’s Chop Salad ($27) impressed us with its myriad of textures and ingredients, and thoroughly enjoyed this. The Lobster Bisque ($35) on the other hand, felt a bit too thick for our liking and was a bit on the saltier end.

Moving on to the highlight of Ruth’s, their steaks. We tried their Petite Filet, which comes in two sizes. A 6-ounce cut costs $90 while the 8-ounce cut will set you back $100.

We opted for Medium Rare, and the USDA filet was served on their iconic hot plate, which is around 260 degrees Celsius. The plate contains butter, which doesn’t cause the meat to stick to the plate. The good news is you can request more butter!

The meat was tender, and there wasn’t any toughness or dryness to the meat throughout our dining experience. It holds up pretty well on its own, but one side we enjoyed together with the steak was the Pan-Roasted Wild Mushrooms ($25).

Their French-fried onion Rings ($25) is a must order. We’re not sure where they’re getting their onions from, but they were huge! It was an absolute pleasure biting into each one. Super crispy, with a nice batter that’s not too oily.

You’ll probably be stuffed by the end of the meal, but you can still end it off with some desserts such as Cheesecake ($31), Crème Brulee ($26), Caramelized Banana Cream Pie ($30), and more.

Date Night Spot in Singapore

While the prices at Ruth’s Chris Steak House may not be the most wallet-friendly, we do think the quality and execution of the steaks are worth the price point. You might want to save this spot for more special occasions, such as date nights or anniversaries.

From 16 Sep to 30 Sep, in celebration of the F1 season, guests can enjoy a complimentary welcome drink.
