Tanglin Cookhouse x Da Dong Prawn Noodles: Only 20 Bowls Of Prawn Noodles Per Day

Tanglin Cookhouse x Da Dong Prawn Noodles- Cover

Tanglin Cookhouse, known for its British-Singaporean cuisine, is collaborating with Da Dong Prawn Noodles!  From 24 February to 23 March, they are offering only  20 sets of prawn mee daily.

Da Dong Prawn Noodles has been serving customers since 1966, offering bowls of prawn noodles made with a traditionally brewed stock. Each bowl is cooked à la minute to ensure freshness and quality.

The Da Dong Prawn Noodles ($23++) came with a generous mix of ingredients, including prawns, prawn balls, crispy pork lard, and bean sprouts.

The peeled prawns were fresh and juicy, while the prawn balls had a firm texture with a tobiko roll that added a light crunch.

The broth had a rich umami flavour yet remained light and not overly thick, making it enjoyable without feeling too heavy. The portion of noodles was quite substantial for the price!

Beer Battered Kang Kong & Crispy Fish With Ginger Flower Dressing

The Beer Battered Kang Kong & Crispy Fish Skin with Ginger Flower Dressing ($16++) was crispy and not overly greasy. The crispy fish skin had a nice crunch, while the beer-battered kang kong added texture.

There was a small portion of kang kong, we think a larger portion would have made it more noticeable!

The Ginger Flower Dressing had a tangy and refreshing taste, adding a light, citrusy contrast.

Wu Xiang

The Wu Xiang ($16++) included a mix of crispy prawn crackers, chinese pork sausage, ngoh hiang, and beansprout prawn cake.

We liked the ngoh hiang, which had a well-seasoned filling and its crisp beancurd skin.

The accompanying chilli sauce had a moderate spice level, adding a bit of heat without overpowering the dish. The variety of ingredients made it a well-balanced side that complemented the prawn noodles and other mains.
