Pang Pang: Crab Pot In Bugis With 2 Whole Crabs For $78++

Pang Pang, China’s number 1 crab pot, opens in Singapore at Guoco Midtown II

They’re known for their meat and seafood casserole pots, with over 700 outlets in China, and this marks their first international outpost.

Interior

The store is quite big, with  many large tables to easily host big groups. The space is brightly lit and features simple, practical furnishings.

The natural sunlight streaming in from the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, coupled with the open layout, creates a more casual and lively atmosphere.

Pang Pang Menu

There are more than 5 different pots, with protein variations like Prawn ($58), Chicken Feet ($48), and even Frog ($78).

Each pot is a casserole, stewing ingredients in their signature gravies to make for a dish designed for sharing.

For a heartier meal, you can add on ingredients like Enoki Mushrooms ($2.80), Prawns ($9.90), Pork Ribs ($9.90), and even carbs like Rice Cakes ($3.80) and Noodles ($3.80).

There are also more than 10 appetisers and sides, from Beef Tripe Bowl ($15.80) to Smashed Cucumber ($3.80), which are perfect for sharing amongst bigger groups.

We had the Signature Crab Pot ($78), which came with 2 whole crabs!

The crab came pre cracked but we still had to put in more work. Having to work for it lowkey made the crab even tastier!

The crab itself was sweet and juicy, and went well with the braised gravy.

You can choose from 4 different spice levels, of which we opted for the lowest. If you can’t take spice well, get this! It wasn’t too spicy and was seasoned just right.

The taste reminded us of a classic Chinese-style braise but more savoury with a prominent seafood taste.

The pot also came with potatoes, rice cakes, and even chicken feet, which was rather surprising! These additions made the pot more hearty.

We also added a serving of noodles (add on $3.80) that soaked up all the sauce.

For sides, we had Pang Pang’s Cold Noodles ($8.80) and Shrimp Paste Bowl ($15.80).

Both were slightly underwhelming as they lacked a prominent flavour. They would have been tastier with more spice and a more impactful flavour.

We preferred the Fried Mochi Fritters ($8.80), which had a more unique texture.

It had a nice pull that reminded us of cheese! Flavour wise it didn’t stand out either – it was neither sweet nor savoury.

The base of crushed sesame helped add some fragrance but a dip would have been better.
