Wong Fu Fu: New Taiwanese Hot Plate Restaurant In Bugis With Free Flow Bubble Tea And Mini Buffet

Bottomless bubble tea? Sign us up! Wong Fu Fu is a soon-to-be newly opened Taiwanese restaurant serving up a selection of hot plate dishes that are also Muslim-friendly. They officially open their doors on 23 February, Thursday!

Retro Taiwanese Aesthetics

Located along the streets of Bugis, Wong Fu Fu’s entrance is easy to spot with neon signs and a bright orange-beige exterior. The interior is adorned with light wood, Chinese motifs and cute line art of their mascot.

The space is narrow but seats 45 people, including a small 10-pax private seating area. There’s also a small merch corner where you get items like Wong Fu Fu-branded bags and drink cups!

Wong Fu Fu Menu

The restaurant specializes in Taiwanese-style hot plate dishes, where you choose one main/protein, one carbohydrate and one sauce. Choices include Grilled Lamb Chops ($32.90), Three Cup Chicken ($24.90) and even Impossible Plant-Based Hamburg ($25.90).

Pair your main with sides and sauces like Pearl Rice, Udon, Tomato Sauce and Mushroom Sauce.

Free-Flow Bubble Tea & Buffet Bar

Here’s the exciting part – every order of a main comes with free-flow drinks, Taiwanese Bubble Tea and a mini buffet with up to 15 different cold and hot foods!

The DIY bubble tea bar comes with 9 toppings and two types of tea, so feel free to customise everything to your taste! There’s sugar syrup on the side so you can sweeten your drink accordingly.

The buffet bar has a variety of sides like Taiwanese fried chicken, marinated wood ear fungus, sweet potato fries and even the Taiwanese mee sua with crab stick!

Taiwanese Hot Plate Dishes

We tried the Taiwanese Fried Chicken ($25.90) with Taiwanese Fried Rice and their Signature Brown Sauce, served with a sunny-side-up egg. The serving size was generous and the savoury gravy went well with the egg-fried rice!

The Grilled Salmon ($28.90) had two sizeable salmon fillets in a black pepper sauce, complete with Pasta and an egg. We found the salmon to be flavourful and not fishy, with a good bite.

We loaded up on our sides and thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety available! The buffet and bubble tea bar were constantly refilled with freshly made boba and hot dishes, so you are sure to have something new to try each round.

For our Muslim readers, the restaurant is in the process of applying for Halal certification but their menu remains Muslim-friendly.

Opening Promotion

To celebrate their opening, Wong Fu Fu is having a 4-for-3 promotion! From now till 21 March 2023, every group of four diners will only have to pay for the price of 3. A perfect time for a gathering with friends!
