Singapore Food Festival Is Back With Food Festival Village, Virtual Masterclasses And More

Singapore Food Festival (SFF) is back for its annual run with an exciting array of activities for foodies! Open now till 11 September 2022, enjoy a lineup of local beverage and culinary brands, workshops and even island-wide collaborations.

This year’s theme is ‘Real Foodies Only’, providing experiences that are both modern and inspired by heritage for an authentic representation of Singapore’s food scene. That said, here is a peek into the offerings this year:

Festival Food Village: Pop-ups, On-site Workshops And Private Dining

Located at the Bayfront Event Space, the Festival Food Village is split into 4 main zones – the Contemporary Food Zone, Heritage Zone, Tiger 90th Anniversary Zone and a Game Zone, plus a Chef Arena and a Gourmet Market. In totality, the festival has a lineup of over 25 homegrown food and beverage brands that are offering menus of local favourites with their own unique twists.

In the Contemporary Zone, there are vendors like Sourbombe Bakery, iKO and Jelebu Dry Laksa, all preparing food fresh per order. Our highlights were the famous Jelebu Dry Laksa that was flavourful, full of spicy, robust prawn flavour and the Xia Bao Bao (fried prawn bun) by One Prawn & Co that came with their signature Prawn Bisque. The  bun came with crispy tempura prawns and a fitting spicy tonkatusu sauce and their bisque was chock full of umami and sweetness from the prawns. You can also get desserts from hay, gelato. and the ever popular Sourbombe Bakery!

The Heritage Zone offers the best of Singapore’s hawker foods. Choose from stalls like Wang Ji Wanton Mee, You Tiao Man, fresh brewed traditional coffee by Hoe Bee Coffee, and even durian treats by Durian Edition X The Refectory! The Wanton Mee had springy noodles and a smoky Kurobuta charsiew that was tender and the Charsiew Pancakes from You Tiao Man had a flaky crust with sweet, savoury charsiew filling. There are even more stalls we did not get to try, so if you get a chance to come to the event, you can take your pick of items!

Enjoy a Private Dining Experience At Chef Arena

If you’re looking for a more intimate setting, the Chef Arena offers private dinner packages with a curated 9-course dinner prepared by 14 local and overseas culinary personalities! The Arena is designed for an experience that engages the five senses and tantalising menu items, plus a complimentary Martell Welcome Drink.

On-Site Workshops And Tiger Anniversary Zone

After the hustle and bustle of the festival, there’s also live entertainment at the Tiger 90th Anniversary Zone, where you can enjoy an ice-cold Tiger Crystal on-tap complete with live music, bar bites, and a temporary tattoo station!

There’s also a number of interesting on-site workshops you can sign up for! Make traditional spice blends with Jeya Spices, a 3rd generation store owner or learn to make coffee with Hook Coffee. Other workshops include making one of Singapore’s Top 10 Strawberry Shortcakes! On top of these exciting activities, there’s a Gourmet Market and Event Hall where you can purchase the best of Singapore’s brands like The Cheese Trap, nötter, PouraBucha, and more.

Virtual Events Like Masterclasses And Virtual Marketplace

The festival is also offering 9 virtual masterclasses that are entirely free to view! Hosted on the official SFF Facebook Page, learn culinary tips and tricks from local and international culinary personalities like Chef Marvas Ng and Chef Russell Misso from PATH & BRDL and Chef Maira Yeo & Chef Justin Lee from Korea. Exciting Off-Site Tours, Workshops And Restaurant Collaborations

Other than the on-site events at Bayfront, there are a number of SFF activities island-wide! The most-noteworthy are the 18 restaurant partners, each offering an exclusive SFF menu item that incorporates classic Singaporean flavours.
