Seoul Restaurant: Charcoal Grilled K-BBQ Buffet In Orchard With Galbi & More

Seoul Restaurant is an unassuming restaurant nestled in Conrad Singapore Orchard. The family-owned restaurant specializes in charcoal-grilled K-BBQ, offering an à la carte buffet of proper BBQ meat cuts!

The space recently had a revamp, including a new space and menu offerings since the last time we visited.

Simple Interior

The space is decorated minimally with a dark wood theme. Despite being there on a Thursday night, the restaurant is bustling like it’s a weekend dinner crowd – just goes to show how popular the restaurant is!

Seoul Restaurant Menu

We tried their à la carte charcoal KBBQ buffet menu, which offers adult prices starting from $59++ for lunch and $89++ for dinner. These prices vary if you opt for no beef or their premium menu!

The meat cuts are also available in regular servings.  These cuts include Chadolbagi (Beef brisket, 150g, $49), Kkot-Galbisal (Beef short rib, 150g, $69), as well as seafood options like Godeungeo-Gui (Mackerel, $22) and Jangeo-Gui (Eel, $39.90).

They also offer soupy options such as the Dduk-Bulgogi ($22) and Kimchi-Jigae ($22), as well as rice options like the Dolsot-Bibimbap (No meat, $22).

Spicy Chicken

We tried the Maeun/Spicy Chicken (150g, $32) marinated in a fiery sauce. The sauce had the right amount of spice, and the chicken was tender without any smell.  If you like spicy food, this one is definitely for you!

Seoul Galbi

A must order is the Seoul Galbi (170g, $79). It’s not part of the regular buffet and is an additional $30 for one serving, but it’s worth the extra.

This was the most memorable meat cut for us. The marinade was the perfect balance of sweet and savoury with a rich umami from soy sauce. It gets caramelised from the grill, adding another addictive layer of flavour. The beef itself was also free of gameiness, with a nice marbling that made it almost melt-in-the-mouth tender.

Pork Cuts

BBQ isn’t complete without pork, and we tried three cuts: Moksal (pork collar), Hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and Samgyeopsal (pork belly). The meat quality is apparent from the first look, with an appetizing fat marbling.

The Moksal (50g, $35) is a recent addition to their menu. Despite being less fatty, this was our favourite cut of the three. It was juicy, clean and had a pleasant sweetness! If you prefer fatty, the Hangjeongsal (150g,$35) is the perfect option. The fat gets crisp on the grill and is sure to satisfy.

The Samgyeopsal (150g, $32) didn’t disappoint, providing an enjoyable balance of fatty and lean meat.  It was perfect in a ssam.

Bibim Naengmyeon

The Bibim-Naengmyeon ($9.90) caught us by surprise. It was tangy, spicy and very refreshing, perfect with the grilled meats! This is definitely worth the repeat order if you get the buffet.

Korean Pancake

Another unassuming dish were the pancakes. We tried the Kimchi, Haemul-Pajeon (seafood and green onion) and Chapssal-Hobak (zucchini), served in convenient mini servings. All three were crisp, savoury and generous with their fillings, making them quite addictive!

Doenjang- Jjigae

The Doenjang-Jjigae was comforting and thick with umami from the soybean paste. It was also packed with ingredients like clams, tofu and mushrooms, making it quite satisfying.
