Mr. Onigiri in Vivocity is an unassuming kiosk offering a menu of onigiri-sandwich hybrids in an interesting selection of flavours.
They introduce a new monthly menu item, and the option for April is a combination of familiar favourites – Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab!
Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab Onigiri
The Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab ($10.90) featured fried crab, spam, cucumber and a sheet of egg.
The crab was a good size. The crispy outer shell added a satisfying crunch, complementing the meaty interior.
We liked the robust salted egg flavor of the sauce, complemented by a hint of spice. It was quite memorable for us!
It will be available exclusively at the VivoCity outlet from April 4 until May 3, 2024.
Signature Items
Signature Melted Cheesy Crispy Chicken
We also tried their Signature Melted Cheesy Crispy Chicken ($6.90), reminiscent of a meaty hamburger. The chicken was crispy yet tender, accompanied by fresh, crunchy cucumber and paired with tamagoyaki and spam.
Crab Cream Croquette
The Crab Cream Croquette ($5.90) boasted a creamy filling with bits of crab meat in it, served alongside a side of mentaiko sauce and togarashi .
We particularly enjoyed the Crab Cream Croquette for the balance of crunchy and creamy. Best eaten when it’s hot!
Chicken Karaage
The Chicken Karaage ($5.90) was crispy and perfectly sized for a satisfying bite. But the star was really the mentaiko sauce, providing an extra creaminess and spiciness.
