Kkoko-Sing: Pet-Friendly Korean Fusion Restaurant In Joo Chiat

Taking over Petite Spruce in East Coast Road is Kkoko-Sing,  a new Korean fusion restaurant. The quaint corner unit offers alfresco dining and a pet-friendly dining space!

Kkoko-Sing Menu

The small menu offers a variety of Korean-inspired dishes with modern infusions, including Devil Spicy Chicken Ramyeon ($15) and Red Sauce Cold Noodle ($12).

They also have classic Korean dishes like Ginseng Chicken ($20) and Kimchi Fried Rice ($12), a Grilled Chicken Burger ($15), and even a Bratwurst Sausage Pizza ($18)!

For drinks, they offer cocktails at $15 a glass, including Vodkatinis and Tequila Sunrise. There are two house cocktails: the sweet-spicy Asam Laksa ($18) and dragonfruit-based Fire Dragon ($18). However, alcoholic drinks were not yet available when we visited.

Mushroom Pancake

The Mushroom Pancake ($15) was jam packed with mushroom slices, which we appreciated!

However, we didn’t like the texture. It was soft and dense, without any crispiness. A better texture and heavier seasoning would be better.

Prawn Soup Stew

The Prawn Soup Stew ($22) fell flat for us. It was spicy but the flavour didn’t stand out, tasting a bit similar to instant soup base.

We liked the large prawns and tofu slices inside though! It also came with a side of rice, so it would make for a proper meal.

Galbi Sesame Pork Belly

The Galbi Sesame Pork Belly ($20) came with a generous slab of fatty, tender pork belly! It was fork tender and rich, making it easy to eat.

However, the flavour tasted more like Chinese food than a Korean galbi marinade. It was still savoury and had umami but we wouldn’t consider it Korean.

Toowomba Prawn Pasta

The Toowomba Prawn Pasta ($18) stood out the most to us, with a creamy and slightly spicy sauce that coated the pasta.

The prawns added a nice bite to complement the dish.

Korean Fusion Restaurant In East Coast

To be candid, we found the food at Kkoko Sing underwhelming. The flavours were not bad but we would not consider it Korean or fusion. However, the prices are good for the area and portions are great for a meal!
