Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu, one of the largest Japanese specialty restaurants with over 70 stores worldwide, has opened its first Singapore outlet in Raffles City!

Some of their signature offerings includes Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen ($25), or you can double the portion with their Double Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen ($40). Each set comes with free flow cabbage and rice for those who need extra. We enjoyed the crunchy cabbage, which pairs perfectly with the yuzu Shoyu dressing provided at each table!

A Singapore-exclusive offering is the Half and Half Gyukatsu Zen, allowing you to enjoy two types of meat with half portions of each cut. You can choose a mix of meat cuts like Chuck Tail and Sirloin GYUKATSU ZEN ($29) or Tenderloin and Sirloin GYUKATSU ZEN ($29).

If you’re looking to add more meat to your meal, you can opt for additional items like Miyazaki A5 Sirloin ($25) or Beef Tongue ( $17). Enjoy your meats with additional dipping sauces such as the Rich Umami Onsen Egg ( $2), Citrus Sauce with Japanese Radish ($2), or Kyoto Dashi Curry for just $1.

Sirloin and Tenderloin GYUKATSU ZEN

The Sirloin and Tenderloin GYUKATSU ZEN ($29) featured a light, crispy crust enveloping medium-rare tender beef. The sirloin, with its nice marbling, offered a heartier bite compared to the other meat cuts.

The tenderloin, which had a thicker cut, might require a longer cooking time if you preferred it more well-done. However it delivered a juicy flavour that complemented the buttery texture of the meat.

There were various ways to enjoy the meats, but our favourite was dipping it into the Rich Umami Onsen Egg, which added a creaminess and savouriness.

Sirloin and Tongue GYUKATSU ZEN

The Sirloin and Tongue GYUKATSU ZEN ($32) offered a satisfying chew with each bite. The beef tongue had a tender texture and a mild richness that complemented the crispy crust. The combination provided a well-rounded flavour, making it a noteworthy option for those looking to try different cuts of beef.

This set comes with a Togarashi Miso dipping sauce, which had a nice balance of savoury and tangy flavours, enhancing the meat while adding a subtle kick.

Wagyu Beef

The Wagyu Beef had a rich flavour, but it leaned towards being too fatty for our liking. It had more fat than meat, making it feel a bit too oily on the palate.
