DoQoo – Reimagined Traditional Desserts at Paya Lebar Quarter Mall with Delicious Soy Cream and Chewy Abacus

The opening of Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) Mall has certainly brought many new options to Easterners. From well-known fast food chains like Mom’s Touch from Korea, to the famous Fong Sheng Hao sandwiches from Taiwan, we have food franchises from all over the world in Singapore, just right inside PLQ Mall.

So… what’s representative of Singapore which is located in this bustling mall? We have a newly opened local dessert stall in PLQ adding a little sweetness to the lives of Singaporeans.

Enter DoQoo, a new concept launched by Singapore’s largest soya bean F&B chain, Mr Bean. If you’re familiar with Mr Bean, you’d know that their desserts such as soy pudding and grass jelly drink items are to die for, at an affordable price no less.

So What is DoQoo?

Pronounced Do-Cool, this brand-new dessert spot in Paya Lebar Quarter aims to serve traditional desserts but reimagined with a touch of affordable indulgence.

DoQoo also produces all its ingredients locally. One thing we found interesting was their Signature Abacus – it comes in three different flavours (Taro, Yellow Sweet Potato and Purple Sweet Potato). These abacuses are available in every single one of their dessert cups, and for a good reason – they’re simply delicious. They are chewy, and we were wowed the subtle sweetness of the sweet potato abacuses.

The best thing about DoQoo is how affordable they have made their desserts to be. Each cup of joy is retailing at only $4.20 each, with each additional topping costing only $1. The cup may look small but don’t be fooled, one cup is more than enough to keep you full for some time.

Our Favourites

The ‘Blue Mint Monday’ is an Osmanthus Aiyu Jelly and Soy Pudding based dessert. This was one of the desserts which stood out from the rest, not just because of its colour, but because of the mintiness and refreshing taste from the blue pea jellies.

We basically swoon at anything with matcha in it, so the ‘Matcha Made in Heaven’ was a clear winner for us. It’s a grass jelly and soy pudding-based dessert topped with matcha jelly and red bean. However, one thing’s for sure, we were hoping that the matcha flavour could be more intense.

This isn’t the end yet… The real magic came in the form of soy cream, which was topped up with every dessert.

Who knew happiness could be so simple and how soy cream would go so well with grass jelly and soy pudding? The soy cream is so good on its own, but it is the missing puzzle which brings everything in each of their desserts together. We recommend trying the dessert without the soy cream first before drizzling it over for the best dessert experience.
