Daily Chicken: Korean Fried Chicken In Bugis Junction With Big Crispy Hotteok, Cup Gangjeong

If you enjoyed the Korean fried chicken at Daily Beer when they first opened in Telok Ayer, you’re sure to enjoy Daily Chicken! The space just opened in Bugis Junction, a fried chicken-centric concept by the same team behind Daily Beer. 

Retro, American-Diner Interior

The space has a fun retro feel, with old-school chairs, booth-style seating and even vintage-inspired lamp shades! 

We also liked the inclusion of these metal gates in the front of the store which gave a rugged, industrial look. 

Daily Chicken Menu

The menu is similar to Daily Beer, except for some outlet-exclusive items and a limited beer selection. This outlet only offers the K-Ginseng Ale ($13).

The outlet-exclusive items are the Gangjeong ($25), available in Black or spicy Red flavour. There’s the option to have it with sweet potato, potato wedges or dumplings. 

This is their take on dakgangjeong which is a popular Korean street food consisting of fried chicken pieces coated in sauce. It’s different from regular Korean fried chicken because it can be enjoyed cold! 

Something unique is the takeaway-only Cup Gangjeong ($12)! It features their gangjeong atop a cup of soft drink of your choice, a convenient way to enjoy the chicken on the go. 

Classic fried chicken flavours include the Original (from $17), spicy Red (from $18) and Crunch (from $18), topped with crunchy cornflakes. 

There are even speciality desserts like the Kaya Butter Hotteok ($12) and Crispy Pastry Corn Cheese Hotteok ($14).

Cup Gangjeong

We tried the Black Cup Gangjeong ($12) with their Pop Dumplings. It looked interesting but was functional, easy to hold and eat from! The serving size was also generous and included fried rice cakes. 

The chicken was crunchy and tender inside, doused in the addictive sweet-savoury sauce. It would make for a good snack on the go, especially with the included soft drink!  

Crispy Pastry Honey Hotteok

The Crispy Pastry Honey Hotteok ($14) was huge, bigger than our faces! It had a side of whipped cream. 

It was crunchy and flaky, something like prata. Ours did not have much filling but it was enough to sweeten everything! The whipped cream added a nice milkiness.

Daily Chicken Original Fried Chicken

Just like at Daily Beer, the Daily Chicken Original Fried Chicken (from $17) was well-executed. It ticked all the boxes for Korean fried chicken: a well-seasoned, crunchy batter and juicy chicken meat. 

Despite being fried, it was light and not greasy at all. We would describe it as the quintessential Korean fried chicken, with no frills and sure to satisfy. 

Daily Bibimyeon

They offer sides like Fried Tofu Gimbap ($14) and Onmyeon ($8), a noodle soup! We opted for the Daily Bibimyeon ($8), served simply with a hardboiled egg and shredded cucumber. 

The sauce had a nice balance of sweet, spicy and tangy, pairing well with the chewy noodles. It was a refreshing complement to the fried chicken. 

Korean Fried Chicken In Bugis

With Daily Chicken’s opening, there’s now more Korean options in Bugis! Their menu of fuss-free, well-executed chicken is enough to satisfy any Korean fried chicken cravings.
