Ahtti 아띠식당: Korean Restaurant In Jurong East With Honey Butter Chicken And Jjolmyeon

When you think of Korean food, the first few places in Singapore that come to mind are Tanjong Pagar and Beauty World. Few would associate Korean food with Jurong East. But this Korean restaurant in Vision Exchange is a good reason why Westies no longer need to venture out to town for quality Korean food.

Korean Food in Jurong East

Introducing Ahtti, a Korean restaurant that opened back in Jan 2020 and is located in Vision Exchange – a building that is walking distance from Jurong East MRT.

Ahtti reminds us of a nice homely restaurant you can find in Korea, with a tinge of 호프집 (Korean word for pub) vibes. There are two different seating areas – indoors and outdoors, and we loved the outdoor area. The train passes by every few minutes, so it adds on to the rustic charm.

Ahtti Jurong East Menu

Ahtti specializes in Korean fried chicken, with other Korean food items available as well. Think Korean pancakes, tteokbokki as well as individual lunch sets. There are also more exciting dishes such as stir-fried chicken gizzards.

Before our food arrived, we were served some side dishes such as lotus roots, kimchi and the iconic cube pickled radish that helps to clear up any feeling of greasiness from too much fried chicken.

Here’s a short review of what we tried:

Honey Butter Fried Chicken

We decided on the Honey Butter Fried Chicken ($20 for 8pcs, $35 for 16pcs) after looking through their menu. When served, the Korean Fried Chicken is topped in a generous amount of white seasoning powder.

The chicken had a nice creamy, buttery and almost sweet taste to it. Make sure not to accidentally inhale the powder on top in case you choke.

One thing we really liked was how crispy the chicken stayed even after taking so many photos. The texture reminded us of fried chicken you get in Korea, with every bite producing a satisfying crunch.

Ganjang Fried Chicken

The Ganjang Fried Chicken ($19 for 8pcs, $34 for 16pcs) is tossed in a light layer of soy sauce that did not interfere with the chicken’s crispiness at all. We preferred the Ganjang Fried Chicken over the Honey Butter one regardless of how simple it sounds.

One might get sick of the honey butter fried chicken after a while, but the Ganjang Fried Chicken has a nice balance of sweet and salty. Best part? It really doesn’t turn the skin soggy even after a while.

We loved that the fried chicken at Ahtti isn’t too oily as well.

Other Korean fried chicken flavours include Yangnyeom, Chilli Padi and Hotdak (extra spicy).

Jjolmyeon

For those who are new to Korean cuisine, Jjolmyeon is basically a Korean chewy noodle dish served with a spicy, sweet and sour sauce. It’s similar to Bibim-naengmyeon, as it’s a cold dish.

Ahtti’s version of the Jjolmyeon came with an assortment of julienned vegetable toppings and a sliced boiled egg. Once the noodles are mixed with the sauce, you’ll taste a harmony of sweet, spicy and sour flavours.

It’s a dish that’s perfect for hot, sweltering days.

Make sure to pair your chicken with some icy cold beer for the best chimaek experience. Ahtti sells Terra Korean Beer which is one of the hottest and popular beer brands in Korea at the moment.

Great Place For Korean Food In The West

With a place that offers great vibes and quality Korean food, there is really no reason for anyone to travel to town for Korean food (unless you want KBBQ lah). A great place to catch up with some friends or for NTU students who are lazy to travel all the way to town for a meal.
