A Review of McDonald’s BTS Meal in Singapore: Sweet Chilli vs Cajun Sauce

While most countries have already launched the McDonald’s BTS Meal, Singapore just launched the BTS Meal on 21st June 2021. Originally scheduled for the 27th of May, the launch had to be pushed back due to the increase in Covid-19 cases back then.

The extremely popular BTS meal caused severe congestion in countries like Indonesia. We even saw people selling the BTS meal packaging online.

Well, now that it’s here in Singapore, we tried to get our hands on it just to see what the hype is all about.

The Process

We placed our order at around 11.02am and got a driver shortly after. A few minutes later, one of our colleagues informed us that McDonald’s on the Grab app was closed.

Unlike the usual meals, you can’t choose to change your fries to cup corn. You don’t have much choice with the drinks either – it comes with a Large Coke® Original Taste Less Sugar.

Here’s the screen on the McDonald’s Website at around 11.15am. It took around 30 mins before we were able to enter the website to place an order.

BTS Meal in Singapore

While the photo on Grab did not show the BTS Meal in its limited-edition packaging, it came with a BTS-branded 9-piece Chicken McNuggets box and drink cup. It doesn’t come with a BTS-branded brown bag, which has been clearly stated on the official website.

Neatly packaged sauces

The meal comes with 9pc McNuggets, two new limited-time sauces, large fries, and a coke. The only new thing besides the packaging are the new sauces – Cajun and Sweet Chili.

The Cajun sauce tastes pretty similar to honey mustard within the first bite, with a slight spicy kick towards the end.

On the other hand, the sweet chili reminds us of what we used to do at some fast-food restaurants – mixing tomato sauce with chili sauce.

To be honest, both sauces were a bit underwhelming.

Priced at $8.90 (U.P. $9.85), the BTS Meal is not exactly what we’ll go for at McDonald’s. We’re team McSpicy and Curry Sauce all the way.

However, if we were avid BTS fans, we imagine that this would be a proud moment for ARMYs (especially those who were with them from the very beginning), having someone they looked up to becoming global icons and having their very own meal in a globally renowned fast-food chain.
