Immerse yourself in an artful nighttime walk with the Singapore Night Festival 2023! The nighttime event is back from 18 August to 26 August 2023, with some lasting till September. There are over 30 art programmes to visit ranging from live performances to art projections!
Singapore Night Festival Program
This year the festivities are spread around Bras Basah and Bugis, with installations in Funan and Raffles Place. If you plan your route right, you can finish everything on foot!
Here are a few event highlights you can look forward to:
Art Projections At CHIJMES & National Museum
The well-loved art projections are back this year and you can catch them at CHIJMES and National Museum.
Each projection features animated art pieces from local artists like Chris Chai (Cosmicchai) and Sadiq Mansor (249.png), creating an intricate and dazzling show of colours. They replay every 15 minutes so you can catch them after your meals!
The largest projection is titled 700 Years at National Museum, dictating the history of Singapore accompanied by music and voice talents.
Indoor Rollerblading
An exciting activity is Time Is A Black Circle – an indoor roller skating rink reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. You can rent a pair of skates for 25 minutes to join in on the fun, or simply enjoy the exhibition.
Time Is A Black Circle is located in the National Museum Of Singapore and you can get tickets ($27 for both skating and non-skating) here.
Festival Villages
No festival is complete without food and you can get your fix at the festival villages around the area! There are three – CHIJMES, SMU and Armenian Street – so you have plenty of pitstops to get your fill.
Enjoy Malfoy Gin cocktails, bar snacks and Tiger Soju at CHIJMES while you enjoy the art projections. We tried the Raspberry Rose cocktail ($15) and enjoyed the light sweetness and tang!
The festival village at SMU has stalls with everything from roast beef cubes, taco sushi to croffles. The Croffle Box ($13.90 for 3) from Sohtt features mochi croffles in flavours like cinnamon sugar, milo and kaya. You can also catch live dance performances and DJs throughout the night!
Night Light Installations
There are a few interactive light installations you can catch on your walk! The SeaScape Symphony in Funan allows you to blow ‘bubbles’ that show on their kinetic wall, while A Stone’s Throw (Away) lights up when you step on the pressure pad.
Other light installations are located in Bugis, Raffles City and Stamford Arts Center.
