Japan boasts some of the best seasonal produce, and wintertime beckons the season of fresh Japanese crabs! At Kuriya Japanese Market Winter Fair, indulge in snow crab (Zuwaigani) and Hokkaido hairy crab (Kegani) in stylish bento boxes alongside Japanese sake.

Kuriya Japanese Market Winter Fair

The star of this iteration of the Winter Fair is the hairy crab and snow crab products available for purchase!  The selection is available now till 28 February 2023.

Kuriya Japanese Market is offering a series of snow crab (Zuwaigani) Bentos to showcase the sweet and flavourful flesh. The indulgent Zuwaigani Kaisen Box ($16.80) features rice topped with snow crab, scallops, salmon, yellowtail, tuna, egg cubes and salmon roe on rice.

Meanwhile, the Zuwaigani Maru ($8.80) is a snow crab sushi roll with seared mentai mayonnaise and salmon roe. The Zuwaigani Hana Sushi ($10.80) is the most eye-catching, with chunks of snow crab and salmon roe on sushi rolls that are ornately arranged like a flower. If you’re a fan of sushi, sashimi and all things Japanese, these bento boxes are for you!

There will also be Hokkaido hairy crab ($55 per piece) and snow crab legs (frozen, $19.80 for 250g) which can be enjoyed cold or warm. To enjoy them, simply thaw them or steam them to enjoy their creamy roe and sweet, fine meat.

Premium Japanese Sakes

On top of the crab selection, there is a selection of imported Japanese sakes from Tokushima Prefecture you can try from $9.90! There’s the Matsuura Ume Sparkling Sake (U.P. $13.90) with the flavour of Osuhuku plums for something more refreshing, and the Sudachi Honey Sake (U.P. $15.90) with notes of honey and Sudachi lime.
