Since its opening on 26th August 2020, Joy Luck Teahouse has sold over 1.8 million egg tarts in Singapore. With items that feature the best of Hong Kong’s delicacies such as egg tarts, pineapple buns and milk tea, Singaporeans can continue to enjoy a taste of Hong Kong in our tiny little red dot.
Joy Luck Teahouse 1st Year Anniversary
To celebrate their 1st year anniversary, Joy Luck Teahouse has launched a series of afternoon snacks.
Salted Egg Cookies
One of the highlights is the Salted Egg Cookies (180g for $19) created by Louisa Ho, the undisputed bakery queen of Hong Kong. This is the first time the baker is selling her bakes overseas.
We especially loved the way the cookies crumbles in your mouth. The buttery flavours first explode in your mouth, followed by a tinge of salted flavours from the salted egg. The way it tastes is simply addictive and makes you want to go back for more.
The cookies are available for purchase at Joy Luck Teahouse and Yum Sing outlets.
Mala Fish Balls
The mala flavours in the Mala Fish Balls ($4.80) really powered through the chewy, bouncy textured fishballs. There’s a nice balance between the numbing sensation and spicy flavours, which can be explained through the word ‘shiok’.
There’s also a Mala Chee Cheong Fun ($3.80) for mala lovers.
Curry Chee Cheong Fun
If you’re not such a spice lover, go for the Curry Chee Cheong Fun ($3.80) instead. The spiciness here is almost non-existent (after eating the mala version).
Kaya & Butter Crispy Bun
We enjoyed the Kaya & Butter Crispy Bun ($3) which kind of looks like a Banh Mi from far. The bun had just the right amount of crisp, which went well with the classic kaya and butter combo.
