If your plans to visit Korea this year have been disrupted due to the pandemic, we feel you. But a good thing is we’ve been seeing quite a few Korean themed launches this year, such as MukJja, 82 Bunsik and autumn-themed Kreams. Joining the list is Urban Table, a Korean minimalistic café along Yio Chu Kang road.
It’s not located near Yio Chu Kang MRT though, it’s near Serangoon MRT station.
Korean Vibes All Day Long
At the entrance is a corner where they roast their own beans. There are a couple of bar seats here where you can enjoy a conversation with their staff should you happen to encounter them roasting coffee beans.
Yes, they do roast their own beans, and you can purchase them in 200g bags.
A few more steps into the café and it’s like another world.
Immediately, the wide metallic coffee counter grabbed our attention. The metallic walls, modern espresso countertop machines reminded us of the cafes in Seoul.
With a mix of Korean pop, R&B and lesser-known K-Indie hits playing in this café, you simply can’t help but feel like you’re in Seoul.
During our time of visit, there were also a lot of Korean customers, and the constant Korean conversations did help to build up the “Korean vibe” of this place.
The place is also really spacious, even with social distancing in place, the café has quite a number of seats.
Menu At Urban Table
Drinks-wise, you have a pretty standard menu: Americano, Latte and Cappuccinos. They also serve dutch cold brew, teas and even kombucha.
As for food, they have a limited brunch menu such as the All-Day Breakfast which is essentially a ham & cheese croissant served with fluffy scrambled eggs. The most recent one is a Guacamole & Egg Mayo Toast.
Pastries such as Maple Pecan Croissant, Pain Au Choc and Eclairs are also available. But more on that later.
Is Their Food & Coffee Good?
Being fully immersed in a Korea cafehopping mood, we got the Iced Americano because it is the drink that most Koreans get.
The Iced Americano ($5.50) was well-balanced with some citrusy hints. Pretty good coffee.
We also tried their Butter Croissant ($3.50) which was on the crispy side. Pretty good mix of textures and absolutely loved seeing the pastry flake when we cut into it. The buttery fragrance was on point as well.
But the highlight of our visit came in the form of a Chocolate Éclair.
At only $3.80, we got our hands on the freshly baked éclair and it was heavenly. The pastry was crunchy and filled with lots of chocolate cream. The cream kinda reminds of milo somehow, not too light and not too intense, but when paired with the chocolate glaze and hazelnuts, ooh la la.

Probably the best $3.80 we spent. But was it because we got it fresh out of the oven?
How To Get There
Urban Table is a few bus stops away from Serangoon MRT and located within the ICB Shopping Centre.
They used to accept reservations, but now they only accept walk-ins.
While some might find the place inaccessible, the trip down is recommended for anyone who misses Korea. The ambience and vibe of the place screams Korea. It’s a nice place for anyone wanting some brunch or simply just to grab some decent coffee.
