Typhoon Cafe: Mochi Souffle Pancakes and High Tea Pairing Experience

Typhoon Cafe is a casual and cozy Taiwanese eatery, and they’ve just launched a new series of Mochi Souffle Pancakes. They’re also teaming up with award-winning Gifel Tea for a high tea pairing experience with bite-sized taiwanese treats!

Mochi Souffle Pancakes

The new mochi souffle pancakes are available in three flavours – Tiramisu, Strawberry Matcha, and Earl Grey.

They are priced at $18.90++ each and are available exclusively at their Plaza Singapura and Kallang Wave Mall outlets.

Earl Grey Mochi Souffle Pancake

If you like floral and fragrant flavours, go for the Earl Grey Mochi Souffle Pancake. It’s layered with earl grey mousse cream and vanilla ice cream, and served with a mini pitcher of earl grey sauce to drizzle over.

We really enjoyed this flavour – it wasn’t too sweet, and the earl grey flavour balanced nicely with the vanilla ice cream.

Tiramisu Mochi Souffle Pancake

The Tiramisu Mochi Souffle Pancake comes layered with mascarpone cream and topped with a scoop of tiramisu ice cream. You’ll also get a mini pitcher of espresso to pour over your pancake, perfect if you need an extra caffeine kick.

Strawberry Matcha Mochi Souffle Pancake

This Strawberry Matcha Mochi Souffle Pancake is generously dusted with matcha powder and comes filled with strawberry mousse cream and a scoop of cherry gelato. It’s also served with strawberry sauce on the side.

Overall, we really enjoyed the chewy texture of the mochi paired with the softness of the pancakes. We didn’t find it overwhelmingly sweet, and they’re a fun and satisfying treat great for sharing with friends.

High Tea Menu

Each high tea set is carefully curated to showcase Taiwanese cuisine in bite-sized portions.

Expect a mix of savoury and sweet delights, from Golden Chicken Fritters to Coffee Tiramisu Cake, each thoughtfully crafted to complement the flavour profiles of Gifel Tea premium brews.

The set is priced at $25.90++, with an option to top up $5.90++ for free-flow tea for the second pax. This exclusive tea pairing experience is available only at Typhoon Café’s Plaza Singapura outlet.

The Discovery Menu

The Discovery Menu comprises of Deep-Fried Shimeji Mushrooms, Chilli Oil Dumplings, Momofuko Bun Mei Cai, and Ondeh-Ondeh Cake.

The Chilli Oil Dumplings were tasty, with silky wontons tossed in a fragrant house-made chilli oil. Paired with the Moroccan Mint Tea, the refreshing mint notes balanced out the heat, adding a cooling twist to each spicy bite.

The Exploration Menu

Our favourite set out of the two, The Exploration Menu comprises of Golden Chicken Fritters, Mala Pancake, Momofuku Bun Lu Rou, and Coffee Tiramisu Cake.

Paired with the Singapore Dream Tea, an aromatic blend of black tea, florals, tropical fruits, and a zesty hint of lemon peel, the Golden Chicken Fritters was seriously addictive. We loved the crispy texture and how the tea’s bright, floral notes complemented the peppery taste of the chicken.

Mala Pancake was another hit for us, it’s a take on the famous Taiwanese scallion pancakes, but with hot and numbing chilli pepper. The Lemongrass Detox Tea perfectly cut through all that heat and refreshed us instantly.
