Tonshou Opens A Second Outlet at Suntec City With Outlet Exclusive Black Pink Tonkatsu

Popular Busan tonkatsu restaurant Tonshou now has a second outlet in Singapore!

Unlike their first outlet in Tanjong Pagar, the new one at Suntec has a lot more seats, feels airier and is located within a shopping mall so that you can queue comfortably in an air-conditioned space.

Popular Korean Tonkatsu Restaurant in Singapore

Tonshou offers the world’s first charcoal-grilled tonkatsu, prepared using a four-stage cooking process. The meat is first deep-fried at low heat, then moved to a high-heat fryer, before it undergoes a resting process and is finished over a charcoal grill.

The menu here is similar to the one at Tanjong Pagar, offering various Katsu sets, such as the Special Rosu Katsu Set ($31) which uses a special pork loin cut, alongside options like an Ebi Katsu Set ($24), and a Katsu Sando Set ($21).

Each set meal comes with a variety of items like cold corn soup, miso soup, rice, kimchi, and salad.

And yes, the white rice, salad and miso soup are refillable.

A Special Black Pink Tonkatsu

At Tonshou Suntec City, there’s an exclusive menu item, also known as the Black Pink Tonkatsu.

Made using Hokkaido Kurobuta, the Pork Loin cutlet is coated in a charcoal breading that accentuates the pinkness of the meat. There are two options to choose from: the standard Hokkaido Kurobuta Rosu Katsu Set ($34) and a special one ($39), which uses a slightly fattier cut.

The latter has limited servings for each day.

We opted for the former, and it was delicious. There’s a nice smokiness from the charcoal grill, with a nice balance of fat and meat. The inside isn’t dry, and the crispiness you get with each bite is consistent throughout the whole katsu.

There are multiple condiments you can pair your meat with, but our personal favourite is the wasabi. A simple dash of salt and a squeeze of lemon also helps to cut through the fattiness of the meat.

Tonshou Suntec is located at 3 Temasek Blvd, Suntec City, Tower 1, #02-473, Singapore 038983 and is open daily from 9 am to 9:30 pm.
