Get your morning coffee fix at Toast Box’s exciting new outlet in Takashimaya! Stepping away from their usual style, this outlet offers a nostalgic take on the classic Nanyang coffee experience. This Outlet also serves up outlet-exclusive items apart from their normal menu.
Warm And Inviting Interior
The store is filled with nostalgic vintage items, including an old-style TV, a polaroid camera and a public phone!
You can look around and spot the trinkets and memorabilia, including some from the personal collection of Mr. Quek, the founder of BreadTalk Group.
Toast Box Takashimaya Menu
The Takashimaya outlet will offer savoury dishes like the Old School Hainanese Pork Chop Rice Set and Mee Rebus.
Their classic selection is still available, like Traditional Toast, Butter Sugar Thick Toast and Floss Thick Toast. Sweet tooths can indulge in pastries like Tau Sar Piah or Kopi Tea Cake.
Enjoy your food alongside their selection of refreshing drinks, including the Iced Oat Milk Teh Melaka, Milo Dinosaur, Kopi Sago and Yuan Yang.
Waterfall Kopi
The Waterfall Kopi ($4) is served with an overflowing topping of coffee foam. It has the familiar strong roasted coffee flavour, complemented by a slightly bitter taste. The foam is light and makes the drink almost creamy!
Mentaiko Egg Sando
The Mentaiko Egg Sando ($5.50) had soft bread with a filling of fluffy and slightly runny scrambled eggs. While the combination was good, the mentaiko sauce could be more prominent.
Char Siew Ramen
The Char Siew Ramen ($8.80) will be a good choice for a light and satisfying breakfast! This dish features thin ramen noodles in a light broth, topped with flavourful char siew slices. The inclusion of the egg was a good touch to the dish.
Bak Chor Ramen
The Bak Chor Mee Ramen ($8.80) was our favourite from what we tried. It came packed with the usual bak chor mee ingredients and a strong vinegar flavour.
It was savoury, spicy, and vinegary, and it was a pretty solid bowl of bak chor mee! We did note that it’s a bit heavier-handed on the oil, making it better suited for lunch.
Unlike the traditional Bak Chor Mee served with mee pok or mee kia, this dish features ramen noodles. The softer wheat noodles added an interesting texture that was still able to catch all the sauce.
Asian Delight Yuan Yang
We opted for the Asian Delight Yuan Yang ($12), which lets you choose your preferred carb option – rice, bread, or prata. We went with the crispy prata, which paired perfectly with the spicy curry chicken. They also serve it with another of their bestsellers, the laksa, which also packs a nice spicy kick.
Kopi Trio
One of the unique offerings is Toast Box’s Kopi Trio ($5.50)! The trio includes the classic trinity of local coffee – Kopi, Kopi O and Kopi C.
It’s originally designed for tourists and visitors for them to experience Nanyang coffee, but it would also work perfectly if you’re indecisive!
Thick Toast Experience Set
The Thick Toast Experience ($4.50) lets you explore their popular Thick Toast with three spreads: peanut butter, pandan kaya and our favourite Hainanese kaya! We really enjoyed the crisp, sweet bread with the different flavours and the interactivity of it.
Toast Box In Orchard
The new Toast Box in Takashimaya is an inviting space, offering a hearty selection of Singaporean coffee-time classics that are perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a solo meal. The nostalgic, retro-inspired interior is also a nice touch to the experience!
