Reopening this July, The Food Place by Food Republic makes a return to Raffles City with a refreshed concept and an exciting culinary lineup.
Boasting over 600-seats, the new food court features 20 food stalls ranging from Michelin-recognised brands to popular local and international names like Li Xin Teochew Fishball Noodles, SMASH by BurgerLabo and Kam’s Roast Express.
The Food Place Stores
The lineup includes a mix of traditional Singaporean hawker food and international cuisines. Highlights include Kinzo Japanese Cuisine, offering a variety of fresh and affordable bentos and dons, Penang Jiak, serving popular Malaysian street food such as Char Kway Teow and Assam Laksa.
You can also look forward to regional options like Padang Padang, specialising in Indonesian flavours like Beef Rendang and Nasi Ambeng.
Halal-certified options include Go Teppan Go with teppanyaki dishes made with fresh ingredients and Toast Junction with early breakfast from 8:30am, including dimsum and Nanyang toast sets.
Fitra Chicken Rice presents local favourites such as Hainanese Chicken Rice, Honey Glazed Chicken Hor Fun, and Curry Chicken Noodles.
We do feel more halal options would have been better.
Here are some of the stalls we tried:
Ju Xing Fish
Ju Xing Fish is an express sauerkraut fish concept by Ju Xing Home, which was awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for 8 consecutive years.
From $11.80, diners can choose from three soup bases – Sauerkraut, Mala, or Tomato – and two fish options: Sea Bass Fillet ($11.80) or Premium Crunchy Grass Carp Fillet ($13.80).
You can also add Premium Fish Collagen for an additional $2.
We gave the Sauerkraut a try and were pleasantly surprised – the fish was fresh, and the soup was light, clean, and not overly spicy. It’s a comforting bowl that’s both flavourful and satisfying.
SMASH by BurgerLabo
SMASH by BurgerLabo offers smashed burgers made with grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef neck cuts. Each patty is flattened and seared to create a flavourful crust.
The Signature SMASH Burger is priced at $9.80 for a single and $12.80 for a double. Diners can top up $4 to add fries.
We tried the double and it was packed with meat and seriously exceeded our expectations – juicy, satisfying, and well worth the hype.
However, the fries were a bit dry and under-seasoned, and not quite worth the $4 top-up.
Mon Kee Café
Making its Singapore debut, Mon Kee Café brings authentic Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng made with premium ingredients.
Founded in 2016 with multiple outlets across Hong Kong, it is best known for the award-winning Char Siew Scrambled Egg Rice with Homemade Sweet Soy Sauce ($8.50).
Other highlights include the Macaroni with Satay Beef in Cream of Chicken ($6.00) and the Quartet Pineapple Bun Sandwich.
Kam’s Roast Express
Awarded for 11 consecutive years as Hong Kong’s 1 Michelin-starred Kam’s Roast Goose, Kam’s Roast Express is now in Singapore with it’s signature roasted meats.
The menu features Roast Duck Rice ($8.90), BBQ Pork Rice ($8.90), and BBQ Pork Belly Rice ($8.90).
The BBQ pork is perfectly caramelised with a sweet, smoky glaze, pairing well with the steamed rice for a hearty lunch. However, we did feel their duck rice is still a better choice.
LiXin Teochew Fishball Noodles
Serving Teochew-style noodles since 1968, LiXin is known for their handmade fishballs made fresh daily with 100% yellowtail fish. The brand has earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2022.
You can try their signature fishball noodles or the outlet-exclusive Sambal Mushroom Meat Dumpling Noodles ($7.70).
We really enjoyed this dish, it’s topped with spicy mushrooms, meat dumplings, and crispy fish cake fritters and is definitely worth the try if you decide to visit!
