Taikoo Lane Hotpot: Steamboat Restaurant With Green Pepper Soup Base At Chinatown Point

Located in the basement of Chinatown Point is Taikoo Lane Hotpot, a steamboat restaurant that showcases the best of Sichuan and Cantonese hotpot broths.

The first thing we noticed when we walked into the store, besides the ringing tunes from their Foodpanda/Grab order machines, was how some tables had individual pots while some had large, shared pots.

While we’re more familiar with the communal steamboat pots, Taikoo Lane Hotpot also offers individual pots. This would be useful if you and your friends don’t have the same taste, so you can each opt for an individual pot instead.

Mobile Sauce Counter

Before our mains were served, a trolley passed by our table filled with different condiments. You can tell the staff what you want and DIY your own special sauce on the spot!

Soup Bases

For soup bases, Taikoo Lane Hotpot offers items like Sichuan Spicy Soup, Tomato Soup, and a more unique Spicy Frog and Fish Pot. We opted for the Collagen Pork Bone Soup Broth along with a Green Peppers Soup Broth.

We especially love the Green Peppers Soup Broth, which had all the qualities of a Mala soup broth without burning your throat. The numbness is extremely addictive, with a slight sweetness from the green peppers. Be cautious as you might choke on the peppers accidentally! But still, super shiok on a rainy day.

Hotpot Meat and Ingredients

Choose from premium meat cuts such as Sliced Wagyu Beef ($11.40), Australian Premier Beef Ribeye ($9.90), or U.S Sliced Beef. They also have Mutton Slices, Premium Pork Belly, Pork Collar, and Marinated Chicken.

Seafood lovers can add items like Scallops, Mussels, or Dory Fillet into your hotpot. They also have a Seafood Platter for those who want a bit of everything. Sweeten your pot with a wide array of vegetables and mushrooms or indulge in their handmade meatballs.

Signatures

Apart from the usual hotpot ingredients, dig into some of the cooked fares by Taikoo Lane Hotpot. The Lala Clams in Spicy Sauce ($12.80) was a refreshing treat, with plump meat and a satisfying mala numbness. The Handmade Crispy Fried Meat ($9.80) was served in a cute trolley, topped with spices that reminded us of the ones you get at Chinese skewer shops.
