TAI ER: New Outlet At Great World With Sauerkraut Fish & Sichuan Classics

If you’re a fan of Sichuan cuisine or sauerkraut fish, you’ve likely heard of TAI ER. With over 600 branches worldwide, they’re now opening their 6th outlet at Great World, bringing all their classic dishes like Suancai & Fish to the table!

The menu at this outlet is the same as others with a variety of Sichuan dishes including Mapo Tofu ($18), Poached Sliced Beef in Hot Chili Oil ($28), and Spicy Chicken with Chili Pepper ($19). For cold dishes, options like Sichuan Cold Bean Jelly in Chili Sauce ($8) and Pork Slices with Mashed Garlic Sauce ($10) are also available.

In addition to mains, they serve sides such as Egg-Coated Glutinous Rice Rolls with Brown Sugar ($9.90) and Fried Crispy Shrimp Topped with Mustard Sauce ($13). For dessert, try their Chilled Mango Sago Cream with Pomelo ($4) or Jelly with Brown Sugar ($3).

Signature Suancai & Fish

The Signature Suancai & Fish (S: $33, M: $49, L: $69) came with thick, generous slices of fresh fish. You can also choose to add on ingredients like bouncy tofu, glass noodles, or sliced bamboo shoots (each at $3.50).

The broth had a subtle peppery kick from the peppercorns that added a nice heat, though it was a bit too salty for our liking. However, pairing a little broth with white rice made for a balanced and satisfying combination.

8 Ingredient Sichuan Spicy Soup

The 8-Ingredient Sichuan Spicy Soup ($26) featured a hearty mix of sliced potatoes, fish balls, quail eggs, and beef slices. One of our favourite ingredients was the potato noodles, which added an addictively chewy texture.

Although the broth was slightly oily, its subtle spice level provided a pleasant numbing sensation, making it suitable for those who prefer a milder kick.

Garlic Glass Noodle Prawn

The Garlic Glass Noodle Prawn ($19) featured soft vermicelli with a strong garlicky flavour. The prawns were tender and fresh, complementing the sweet notes of the cabbage. This dish is a great choice for those who prefer to avoid spicy flavours.

Stir-Fried Green Bean With Minced Pork

The Stir-Fried Green Beans with Minced Pork ($12.80) featured crisp green beans and well-marinated minced pork. The dish offered a balanced flavour without being overly salty, a refreshing change of pace from some of the other dishes we had tried.
