SYIP: Minimalist White Cafe in Farrer Park with Burrata French Toast and Well-Loved Tiramisu

Joining Old Hen Kitchen, Daizu and other cafes in Farrer Park is SYIP (pronounced as ‘sip’), a minimalist, white-themed cafe that’s bound to attract your attention with its neon signs and clean aesthetics.

P.S. SYIP has just revamped their space with a new concept! Check out the full experience here.

The first thing we asked when they were taking our order was: “Why is the Y rotated to the side?”. (We were honestly curious because the logo reminded us of TYPE Samcheong)

Well, it turns out that the owners wanted to incorporate their family name, Yip, into the concept of Sip. This resulted in SYIP, a place where you can sit down and enjoy your coffee.

The owners first started selling Tiramisu on Soft Peaks Bakery, an online home-based business, which attracted quite a following for their tiramisu (which you can now get easily via SYIP, woo!).

Interior-wise, we are absolutely in love. With clean and minimalistic vibes, the cafe is probably going attract lots of Instagrammers.

SYIP Cafe Menu

Serving an array of menu items suitable for brunch, you can expect items like Avocado on Toast ($14), Creamy Chicken Scrambled Egg Croissant ($16) and Seafood Rose Linguine ($19).

Kahlua Tiramisu

This is one of their most representative menus from Soft Peaks Bakery and now you can enjoy it at SYIP cafe! With a delightful balance of mascarpone cream to ladyfingers soaked in espresso and Kahlua, we were drawn in and kept going for another bite.

The alcohol taste isn’t that strong per se, but let’s just say you can feel it in your nose once in a while. The size of the Kahlua Tiramisu ($10) is around 9 x 9cm, enough for 2 to share after a delightful brunch.

They also have a non-alcoholic version of their tiramisu priced at $7.

Burrata French Toast

One of SYIP cafe’s signature menu items is the Burrata French Toast ($22). It’s a thick brioche toast topped with a blob of burrata cheese (which kinda went off shape after takeaway), 2 slices of maple-glazed bacon and drizzled with a generous serving of maple syrup.

While the dish may seem simple, the light, milky flavours of the burrata cheese went really well with the buttery toast. Even after a long time, the bread was fluffy, and the edges had a nice, burnt caramelized flavour.

The burrata itself is from a cheese supplier, with the cheese being really stringy and stretchy. It doesn’t have an overwhelming cheese flavour so anyone can enjoy this dish!

Iced White

SYIP uses beans from Compound Coffee Co., with the resulting coffee being well-balanced. It’s not too milky, which we really liked.

They also have a range of signature drinks such as Matcha Strawberry ($7.5), London Fog ($7.5) and SYIP Black/White Coffee ($6/6.50) which is topped with whipped cream.

If you are more of a tea person, they also serve teas in a pot from Kindred Teas here, such as Maple Vanilla Green Tea, Dong Ding Oolong and Elder & Cream Black Tea.

Minimalist White Cafe in Farrer Park

The new SYIP cafe is a nice addition to the bustling Farrer Park neighbourhood, and cafehoppers now have more options to choose from.

We really enjoyed the Kahlua Tiramisu and can’t wait to explore more of their food items in the future when dining in is possible.
