We Tried The Tik Tok Viral Circular Croissant (aka Croons) By Swish Rolls Bakery

Round, layered and flaky, the round croissants by NYC bakery Lafayette have made their name in the Tik Tok Hall of Fame for their appealing visuals and delicious flavours. You can now get your hands on its Singapore equivalent Croons, freshly baked by local bakery Swish Rolls bakery located in Botanic Gardens.

Buttery, Creamy And Delicious

A lineup of five viral circular croissants by Swish Rolls bakery

The Croons sell out very quickly so we highly recommend pre-ordering them in advance on their website. They open weekly slots for delivery and in-store pick up so you can skip the queues but secure the goods! We managed to get the full lineup of Croon flavours: Crackly Sea Salt Butter, Deep Dark Valrhona Chocolate, Super Summer Berries, Loaded Pistachio and Ham ‘N Cheeze.

Starting with the OG Crackly Sea Salt Butter ($3), this tasted like a no-frills, classic croissant. The outside crust was crispy and the dough was flavourful with the recognizable scent of butter and a savoury tinge from the salt. The circular layers were alluring to look at and had an equally satisfying pull, a sign of good croissant dough.

The top-selling flavour is the Deep Dark Valrhona Chocolate ($5.80), featuring a generous amount of creamy chocolate custard and crunchy chocolate pearls. The custard was delicious and packed with a strong chocolate flavour, pairing very well with the buttery pastry. You might want to get your cameras ready for when you eat this because the cross-section is extremely insta-worthy!

From left to right: Deep Dark Valrhona Chocolate, Super Summer Berries and Loaded Pistachio

If you’re into non-chocolate flavours, the Super Summer Berries ($5.80) and Loaded Pistachio ($5.80) are great options. The Super Summer Berries filling has bits of berries mixed into the cream and had a pleasant sweet yet tart flavour that is reminiscent of a raspberry swirl ice cream.  On the other hand, the Loaded Pistachio was fragrant and packed with a roasted pistachio flavour, but it did get a bit jelak after a while. It’s good for those who love pistachio, and you can tell that Swish Rolls doesn’t use artificial pistachio flavouring.

The Ham ‘N Cheeze ($5.80) is currently the only savoury option on the menu, but it was surprisingly good! The ham was flavorful and paired with a mixture of cheeses for maximum flavour, and felt like a satisfying sandwich.

Worth A Try (But Not A Queue)

Overall, the Croons are pretty delicious! You can taste the premium ingredients and effort put into each croissant, down to how they hand-pipe their cream. It might not be worth queuing at 9am but definitely worth the pre-order. Swish Rolls bakery opens weekly slots for in-store pickups on their official online store
