Shake! Some Coco: Sleek Takeaway Shop with Refreshing Coconut Shakes in Hillion Mall

Singapore is bursting with coconut shake stores, with some even attracting long snaking queues. With aims to elevate the coconut shake experience, a group of friends have come together to create their own Coconut shake brand: Shake! Some Coco.

Took Almost A Year of R&D

Shake! Some Coco range of coconut shakes

Shake! Some Coco is started by Joash, Caleb, and Melville, who have been friends since secondary school. While it might be a risk to enter an already competitive field in the F&B industry, they are confident with their take on coconut shakes.

The reason why? It took them 10 months of research and tweaking of recipes for that perfect coconut shake.

Their menu, apart from the OG coconut shake, consists of interesting combinations like Coconut Matcha-Americano, Coconut Matcha-Banana, and even with the king of fruits, Coconut Durian.

We managed to grab Melville for a quick shot before he heads back to the blender stations

Instead of opting for a simple kiosk, they wanted Shake! Some Coco to be a more lifestyle brand (like Starbucks and Arabica) and for customers to have a walk-in experience where they can see their drinks being made over the counter.

When we visited, we overheard people saying, “You sure is coconut or not, look like they sell coffee leh!” This was perhaps due to the micro-cement look they adopted, which gave off sleek café vibes.

Shake! Some Coco Menu

The menu over at Shake! Some Coco is simple and straightforward, with 8 coconut shakes, 2 being coffee-based. They have 5 different toppings you can choose to add on, such as aloe vera, nata de coco and brown sugar konjac balls.

They also have fresh coconut juice. You can choose your desired sugar level for all their drinks with exception of the fresh coconut juice.

The shakes are made with coconut water, coconut flesh, along with a special cream, milk, and ice cream that Joash said they couldn’t reveal (ooooooh~).

Coconut Lemonade with Nata de Coco

One of our favourite drinks here is the Coconut Lemonade ($4.80 M, $5.80 L) paired with Nata de Coco ($0.50 Single, $0.90 Double).

It’s a refreshing, icy treat that’s perfect for scorching hot days. While the lemonade provide a nice perk-me-up feeling, the coconut added a nice creaminess that wasn’t too overwhelming.

We also loved how the nata de coco was smaller in size compared to the usual bbt stores – which made it easier to suck using a straw.

Coconut Matcha Americano

Seemingly the most complicated menu by Shake! Some Coco, we were pleasantly surprised by how this drink turned out.

The Coconut Matcha Americano ($6.90 M, $7.90 L) had a creamy mix of coconut and coffee fragrance with a dash of bitter aftertaste from the matcha. Even without toppings, the drink fared well, and you get to bite into bits and pieces of the coconut flesh.

For all our drinks, we went with 25% sugar level and felt that it was sufficient. Go for 50% and above if you’re a sweet tooth.

Coconut Mango with Mango Poppers

Left: Coconut Mango with Mango Poppers, Right: Coconut Shake with Brown Sugar Konjac Balls

The mango poppers go great with the Coconut Mango ($5.30 M, $6.30 L), and the drink almost feels like a fresh blend of mango fruit.

While the mango poppers added a great texture, we felt that it made the drink sweet overall. Perhaps you can go for 0% sugar if you’re thinking of getting the mango poppers add-on.

Refreshing Coconut Shakes in the West

Great news for those staying around Bukit Panjang because Shake! Some Coco is located in Hillion Mall, right beside McDonald’s and 7-11. It’s directly opposite the downtown line exit, and you don’t even have to check in to the mall to get access to their coconut shakes.

The store opens officially on 29th October and will be having a 10% discount promotion to those who follow their IG account, from 29th to 31st Oct 2021.
