Suntec City is bursting with all kinds of Korean food concepts, ranging from Koggii to Bakery 1946. A new addition comes with a fresh novel offering: SBCD Korean Rice House, offering fast, fuss-free Korean rice bowls.
Fast But Good Food
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because this is by the same company behind the popular Korean tofu stew chain SBCD Korean Tofu House.
This brand focuses on cupbap (컵밥) or rice bowls with Korean toppings.
It’s meant to be fast and convenient, available both for takeaway and dine-in at their outlet.
The ordering is done via kiosk or order online for pick-up and all you need to do is collect your order after!
SBCD Korean Rice House Menu
There are eight rice bowls available. There is currently no option to fully customize your bowl, but you can add toppings.
You can check out the full menu here.
Every bowl starts with a base of either rice and japchae or Samyang Buldak noodles.
The default toppings include salad mix, half a marinated egg, a fried mandu and three banchan (seasoned tofu, corn salad and kimchi).
For proteins, they have classics like Seoul Beef Bulgogi ($13.80), Pork Bulgogi ($11.80) and Spicy Dakgalbi ($12.80).
Something we noticed was how much meat they add in every bowl. It was a generous serving regardless of the protein!
An interesting offering is the Truffle Jjimddak ($11.80), topped with a creamy truffle mayo and spicy chilli mayo.
The chicken was tender but there wasn’t a strong or notable truffle taste from the meat itself. However, the gravy was sweet and savory, pairing well with the carbs.
Our favourite was the Jeju Orange Yuzu Chicken ($13.80).
The fried chicken chunks were coated in a zesty, slightly sweet sauce with a pleasant citrus fragrance!
We also liked the Creamy Spicy Pork Jeyuk ($13.80) – simple but satisfying, with a subtle spiciness from gochujang.
These bowls were hefty too. The combination of vegetables, protein and sauce make it a relatively balanced meal choice (at least, we think so).
For spice lovers, get the Samyang Spicy Dak Gangjeong ($14.80).
This iteration comes with Samyang noodles by default, topped with Samyang fried chicken.
If you enjoy the nuclear spice, this will definitely be up your alley. We liked the topping of cornflakes that added a pleasant texture contrast!
It’s also available in Spicy Pork Don Gangjeong ($14.80) with a Samyang cream pork instead.
