Rose Jjimdak, Mala Jjimdak & Makgeolli Cocktails At Ilmiri Fusion Korean Cuisine In Clarke Quay

You probably know of Ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine in Clarke Quay, popular for its hearty menu of jjimdak, or Korean braised chicken. They have added more flavours to their repertoire, plus new sides and Makgeolli drinks to enjoy with your meal!

Ilmiri New Menu

Menu items

All their new offerings will be available from 15 May 2024. First in the lineup are the two new jjimdak flavours: Rose ($37.90) and Mala ($39.90). These flavours are (and were) all the rage on Korean social media and you can now have a taste of it here!

There will also be new sides including Stir-Fried Pork ($28.90), Chicken Pancake ($17.90) and Chicken Soup ($17.90), which comes with a serving of noodles.

Ilmiri has also partnered with the esteemed Korean brewery Chungpoong Brewery to present a lineup of Makgeolli cocktails! Sample their fresh, ultra-precise brewed Makgeolli in flavours like Banana ($15) and Grape ($15).

Rose Jjimdak

Rose is usually a mix of cream and tomato sauce, but the Rose Jjimdak uses gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) instead. The jjimdak came packed with chicken, rice cake, vegetables and glass noodles. It’s enough to feed two to three people comfortably.

We liked the gravy! It was savoury and creamy with a hint of spiciness that cut through the richness, making it easy to enjoy. We think it could have even more gochujang for a punchier flavour.

The chicken was also tender without any gaminess, we appreciated how the assortment of ingredients kept the meal interesting.

Sides

We tried two upcoming new additions: Kimchi BBQ Nacho ($24.90) and Buldak Noodle ($22.90). Both are designed to pair with alcohol and have stronger flavours.

The Kimchi BBQ Nachos had a generous portion size, good for sharing! The sweetness from the bulgogi paired well with the crunchy chips and guacamole making it quite addictive. We also liked the addition of white kimchi chunks, providing a good tanginess to cut through the richness.

If you’re craving something spicy, the Buldak Noodle is sure to satisfy. The noodles from the packet but their house-marinated spicy chicken levelled up the dish. Each piece was juicy, packing quite a punch from the sauce.

Makgeolli Cocktail

Left: Honeycomb, Right: Melon

We tried the Honeycomb ($13) and Melon ($15) makgeolli cocktails.

Even with the added flavourings, we could still taste the richness and sweetness of the rice. We found it quite strong alcohol-wise, much more than the regular bottled versions! But it still went down smoothly, complementing the salty foods.

However, we didn’t like the Melon flavour as it was way too artificial. The Honeycomb was our pick between the two as the honey provided just the right amount of sweetness!
