POUT Night Cafe: Coffee, Drinks & Bakes After Hours In Clarke Quay

TL;DR: POUT Night Cafe is a soft-launch programme that keeps POUT’s rooftop cafe at 50 South Bridge Road open until 9pm every Monday, past its usual 5.30pm close. Expect coffee, tea and pastry menu alongside five coffee-based cocktails, non-alcoholic speciality sips and a few shareable bites, all overlooking the Singapore River skyline. It’s walk-in only, and POUT plans to expand beyond Mondays if the response is strong.

Most cafes in Singapore wind down by early evening. POUT, the rooftop cafe overlooking the Singapore River in Clarke Quay, is showing what happens when it doesn’t. Every Monday, POUT extends its hours past its usual 5.30 pm close under a new program: POUT Night Cafe.

Think of it less as a switch into bar mode and more as the cafe menu following you into the evening. Coffee, tea, pastries and cafe snacks all stay on, joined by coffee-forward cocktails, natural wines, and a skyline that changes colour over the water.

What Exactly Is POUT Night Cafe?

POUT Night Cafe is a transition concept that extends POUT’s usual cafe hours into nighttime, keeping the same cafe menu with additional cocktails and wines.

It’s currently in soft launch, running only on Mondays from 3 pm to 9 pm. The POUT team says the programme will expand to other days if the response is strong.

The idea was inspired by a shift in drinking habits: younger Singaporeans are drinking less but still looking for occasions to spend the night out. POUT Night Cafe is built around that: a space where conversation and company can continue long past the evening with the same cafe favourites.

Their usual nighttime concept ABODE Rooftop Bar will still run across the week, alongside the ever-popular daytime cafe POUT.

The View That Makes It Worth Staying Past 5.30pm

The skyline views have always been one of POUT’s strongest draws, and Night Cafe allows visitors to stay and enjoy the transition from afternoon to sunset. Seating spans an indoor cafe area and an al fresco deck, so you can choose between air-conditioning or open air depending on the evening.

It’s the kind of view that calls for a slow drink, be it a cup of coffee or a cocktail.

POUT Night Cafe Menu

The Night Cafe features POUT’s daytime menu of coffee, bakes, bites and five speciality drinks. The additions to the menu include coffee-forward cocktails and savoury bar bites.

There is also a natural wine list with glass and bottle options available.

Here is a preview of the menu:

What We Tried

The Drinks: Coffee Cocktails

Five coffee-based cocktails headline the Night Cafe menu, built on Apache espresso and a house Brazilian coffee liqueur. All cocktails are $18.

We tried three:

Ube Sa Kape

Featuring Brazilian coffee liqueur and ube cream liqueur, this tasted like an ube dessert! The bitterness of the coffee cut through the sweetness without being too cloying.

Midnight Fizz

This was the lightest cocktail, with a coffee cream top and caramelised banana slice. It reminded us of dalgona coffee with subtle banana notes and a kick from the alcohol – dessert-like but not too sweet!

Butterscotch Nightcap

This ended up being a surprising favourite. Served warm, this Nightcap is basically a spiked latte with fat-washed Jameson whiskey. It was comforting, slightly sweet and a nice way to end the night.

There are also five speciality drinks available ($11.90 each) that are non-alcoholic by default, with the option to add a $5 shot of spirits.

Mango Theory (behind), Moonlit (in front)

We had the refreshing Mango Theory with coconut water and pandan and the creamy Moonlit that features pear, coconut water and a milk foam.

Their regular cafe drink list features a choice between 3 beans, including a Colombian decaf, matcha, hot chocolate and kombucha. A short by-the-glass natural wine list and two beers cover anyone who wants something simpler than a cocktail.

The Food

POUT Night Cafe’s food menu is largely bar bites to pair with your drinks instead of an extensive dinner menu.

You’ll spot familiar items like the Baked Camembert ($22) – confit garlic, honey, sourdough chips – and the Truffle Parmesan Fries ($15), which were savoury and perfect for nibbling with drinks.

From the bakery display cabinet, we had the Smoked Chicken Pastry ($7.90) and Peanut Butter Kaya Muffin ($7.90) with a peanut butter streusel.

If you like a savoury croissant, you’ll enjoy the smoked chicken pastry with its crisp, laminated layers and cheese-forward filling.

Something unique was the Truffle Blue Cheese Tart ($9.90). Topped with a shaving of Parmesan cheese, this was creamy with a nice aged funk that wasn’t pungent as you’d expect. We see this going perfectly with a glass of chilled wine!

The bake menu rotates, so what’s on display on any given Monday may differ from what we had. Check with staff for what’s available.

We also had their Night cafe-special Dessert Cups. The Zen Crunch ($15) had two scoops of Matcha gelato, red bean, mochi balls and cornflakes, complete with a Merlion biscuit. This was sweet and simple, perfect for sharing amongst two on the terrace overlooking the Singapore skyline.

Is POUT Night Cafe Worth Visiting?

Yes, POUT Night Cafe is worth visiting, especially if you like their daytime concept. It provides the perfect transitional space to enjoy the sunset while also savouring their cafe bakes. This is our first time seeing such a concept, making it stand out amongst the other cafes in Singapore.
