Previously when we made our way to Clinton Street Baking Company, it never passed our minds that this traditional Chinese medicine-looking storefront was home to a cafe. Sporting a different vibe from its exterior, Pinhole Coffee Bar is a relatively new cafe along Purvis Street with simple bakes and delicious coffee.
Pinhole Coffee Bar near Bugis
Pinhole Cafe envisions a space where they can bring people from different walks of life closer. The place is decked in minimalist white-color-focused interior elements with touches of wood.
There’s the main coffee bar with 5 seats where you can interact directly with the baristas, a table near the back of the cafe, as well as some seats along the wall and outside. The stickers pasted on the wooden crate outside had Nylon Coffee meets Double Up Coffee kind of vibes.

For espresso-based drinks, you have the usual Black ($4.5) and White ($5). They also have Artisanal Tea ($6) and a Jun Tea Ferment ($8) for those who prefer tea over coffee. Oat milk option is available as well.
If you’re into pourovers, there is a detailed menu on the coffee counter where you place your order. Here, you can up to 6 pourover options, from places like Cata Coffee, Mame, Flip Coffee Roasters, and Lili Roasts. Depending on what you get, it can cost from $7 to $12.
Small Bakes are usually displayed on the counter and are available seasonally. When we visited, there were items such as Chocolate Chip Cookie Patty ($4) and Jan’s Blackout Brownie ($6).
Hello, Good Morning
The item Hello, Good Morning ($7) stood out the most on the menu, so we knew we had to get that. It’s a flight of single shot espresso, a 4oz white, and a palate cleanser, which was a cold brew tea.
You’re supposed to drink the palate cleanser first, followed by the shot of espresso and the 4oz white.
Our coffee was made using washed Colombian beans with notes of butterscotch and black tea.
The espresso was really nutty and intense.
If you want to experience Pinhole Coffee Bar to its fullest, this item on the menu is the way to go.
Lemon Loaf
We opted for the Lemon Loaf ($5.5) which was moist and crumbly on the inside, topped with a sugar glaze. The loaf was well balanced with pleasant sour, citrusy flavours and a dash of sweetness.
Nice Cafe For A Cuppa
Pinhole Coffee Bar is a nice cafe where you can just drop by in the middle of the day for a quick cup of coffee. If you work nearby, you might just want to head over before work since they open as early as 8AM!
