Oven & Fried Chicken: Still One Of The Best Korean Fried Chicken Restaurants in Singapore

Singaporeans are quite familiar with Korean Fried Chicken, a dish that appears constantly in Korean dramas and variety shows. If you can’t fly to Korea, you can still indulge in this crispy and satisfying dish right here in Singapore. Oven & Fried Chicken or OFC Singapore has one of the best Korean fried chicken in Singapore.

Oven & Fried Chicken in Singapore

The Oven Fried Chicken in Singapore is a combination of two Korean chicken brands – Okkudak and Ssaldak. Fun fact: There’s no Okkudak in Seoul, but there’s Oppadak. Same brand, different name.

Their Ssaldak menu uses a coating of rice flour instead of wheat flour. As for the Okkudak menu, pieces of chicken are baked in the oven instead of the usual deep-frying process.

Having been around since 2014, we were slightly worried if their quality has dropped, but it seems like there’s still a reason for the snaking long queues at Telok Ayer and Beauty World!

Ssaldak Fried Chicken

One of their bestsellers is the Fried Chicken that comes in boneless thigh and wing options, but we went for the mixture which comes with different parts of the chicken (Whole $33, Half $18).

If you don’t want to fight on who gets the drumstick, then go for the boneless thigh option (Whole $39, Half $22).

The freshly fried chicken was piping hot when served. The rice flour-coated pieces of chicken were incredibly juicy and crispy, without being overly greasy. JMT! 존맛탱!

Yangnyeom Fried Chicken

When eating Korean fried chicken, Yangnyeom chicken is a must! Coated in a layer of sweet and spicy sauce that’s directly imported from Korea, you’re basically eating the same thing from Korea.

One amazing thing that we think Oven & Fried Chicken does very well is maintaining the crispiness of the chicken even after it’s been tossed in the yangnyeom sauce.

This time around, we tried the boneless option (Whole $42, Half $25) for the Yangnyeom Chicken and true to our expectations, it was crispy and juicy at the same time. The spiciness of the sauce slowly accumulates, but there’s just something really addictive about it.

Warning: Your hands might get real sticky after eating this!

Korean Chicken and Beer

Chimaek is one of the best pairings you can get in Korea, a type of comfort for many Koreans out there. At Oven & Fried Chicken, you’ll find different types of beer to pair your fried chicken with, such as Stella Artois.

Go for the Korean beers such as Terra to really bring out the experience!
