Dragon Boat Festival, also widely known as Duan Wu Jie, is an annual traditional holiday. One of the traditions that come along with the festival is rice dumplings! This year, Mr Bean is bringing back their vegetarian rice dumplings, available for purchase till 14 June 2021.
There are 3 different vegetarian-friendly rice dumplings to choose from, with a new local-inspired Nonya Dumpling.
These dumplings were all awarded the healthier option by the Health Promotion Board.
Mr Bean Rice Dumplings
- Brown Rice Dumpling ($6.90)
A returning favorite, the Brown Rice Dumpling is made up of 6 different types of special grains, brown glutinous rice, lion’s mane mushroom, and chestnut. It’s both vegan and vegetarian friendly.
- Mushroom and Chestnut Dumpling ($4.20)
This is one of our top favorites! The rice dumpling is made with glutinous rice, mock meat, mushroom, and chestnuts. There’s a light mushroom fragrance in the soft, chewy rice which went well with the crunchy chestnuts. This is also both vegan and vegetarian friendly.
- Nonya Dumpling ($4.20)
The Nonya Dumpling is made using glutinous rice, sesame oil, coriander powder, mushroom stem, textured vegetable protein, five-spice powder, soya sauce, and candied melon. This is only vegetarian-friendly as it contains a minimal amount of egg white powder.
