LUNA Launches New Bloom Collection, Goma Peanut Butter Cake Is A Must-Try

Constantly attracting huge crowds over at Amoy Street is LUNA, a popular spot for cakes and desserts ever since its inception. The cafe recently launched a brand-new collection known as New Bloom, which features intricately designed cakes and tarts.

LUNA Cafe New Desserts

Inspired by things that constantly bloom, the New Bloom collection consists of 10 new items and reminds us of Spring. Alongside this new collection of cakes and tarts, you can still find some of their iconic menu items such as the Matcha Opera & Orh Nee Cake at both their physical and online spaces.

We managed to try some of them and here’s a quick review:

Apple Peach Cheesecake

Apple Peach Cheesecake from LUNA

Reminding us of the Kakao Friends character Apeach, the Apple Peach Cheesecake ($9) looked too cute to eat! Beneath the layer of cream cheese mousse, you’ll find caramelized apple peach tartin.

For something to be named a cheesecake, we did hope for stronger cheesecake flavours. However, this did taste like a delicious, sweet & savoury apple pie when eaten with the sweet & salty biscuit base.

Raspberry Grape Mille Feuille

We loved the textures that came with the Raspberry Grape Mille Feuille ($9), which featured layers of grape chantilly, juicy grapes and raspberry ganache. The grape flavour was light yet fragrant, but we couldn’t get much raspberry notes.

Goma x PB

One of our favourites was the Goma x PB ($9), which was a slice of earthy and nutty flavours. While we prefer our sesame desserts to purely consist of sesame elements, the touch of freshly churned peanut butter in between the slices of Japanese Goma sponge and paste was just *chef’s kiss*.

Just when you’re done enjoying the smooth Goma flavours, the peanut butter comes in with just the right pinch of savoury and nutty flavours which makes you want to go back for another bite.

Pistachio Hazelnut

The Pistachio Hazelnut ($9) was another item from LUNA’s New Bloom collection that we liked. A perfect balance of nutty flavours from pistachio and hazelnut, this wasn’t too gao (thick in Hokkien), thanks to the silky vanilla chantilly cream on top. The tart crust was also amazing in terms of texture.

Honey Yoghurt Walnut

Coming with an edible gold honeycomb chocolate piece on top was the Honey Yoghurt Walnut ($9). Looking like a pebble, this was essentially a Honey lemon Pâte à Choux filled with lemon curd, roasted walnut bits and a light yoghurt mousse.

A nice refreshing blend of tangy flavours, perfect for anyone who can’t take dead sweet desserts.

Citrus Earl Grey

The Citrus Earl Grey ($9) featured a buttery tart filled with earl grey infused crème, citrusy orange curd and orange jelly. While we enjoyed the citrusy flavours, we did hope for a more prominent earl grey fragrance.

Matcha Opera

While this was not part of the New Bloom collection, we knew we had to revisit the Matcha Opera ($8.50) while we were at LUNA. One of their most famous cakes, the Matcha Opera was power-packed with matcha flavours, and would most likely be a favourite for matcha lovers.
