Love Handle: Plant-Based Deli In Ann Siang Hill Offering Unique Menu Items Like Chicken Rice And Pastrami Banh Mi

If you’ve been looking for a good plant-based eatery in Singapore, look no further than Love Handle. As Asia’s first digital plant-based butcher, Love Handles curates the largest selection of plant-based meats, dairy, and condiments for hearty dishes that don’t need meat. They also serve up a delicious plant-based menu at their Deli on Ann Siang Hill.

Eclectic But Cozy Interior

Love Handle offers a subscription service that can deliver plant-based meats to your doorstep, but you can taste their curated menu at the physical outlet in Chinatown. Nestled in an unassuming three-story shophouse, you are first greeted by a display of their plant-based meat selection, much like an actual butcher.

Main seating is on the second and third floor, with unique bright wooden furniture and an interesting selection of vintage posters and art that adorn its walls. The space was very cozy and well-lit from the natural lighting streaming through the windows.

Love Handle Menu

Love Handle has relaunched its Deli menu to include a number of new additions, including items like:

They also offer a lineup of non-alcoholic wines, specialty drinks, and teas, plus a small dessert menu. Just from the names alone, can you believe they are all plant-based? Neither could we, but after a taste of some of their dishes, we were taken by surprise!

Roasted Cauliflower

To start, we tried the Roasted Cauliflower ($12), which featured a quarter head of grilled cauliflower atop a burnt spring onion mayo, and their Love Handle chilli oil (which they sell in-house)! This was a great starter, with the cauliflower being the ideal vessel for the creamy but smoky spring onion mayo and a kick from the chilli. The serving is also quite generous and can easily be shared between 2 or even 3 people.

Love Handle Egg Mayo Focaccia

We also got to try the Love Handle Egg Mayo Focaccia ($12). A generous serving of their egg mayo salad with dill was served on top of a toasted herb focaccia and garnished with green grapes. Aside from being extremely picturesque, the egg salad was very reminiscent of a regular egg salad and the grapes added a pleasant sweetness. It did get a bit cloying toward the end, but the texture and flavours are worth a try.

Love Handle Fried Chicken

A notable dish was definitely the Love Handle Fried Chicken ($16) which came with 2 pieces of Love Handle chicken breasts, kimchi, and a gochujang mayo. The chicken was surprisingly meaty and had a great texture, further complemented by the flavorsome crust and creamy gochujang mayo that cut through the greasiness. The dish was a bit heavy on seasoning, but still made for a hearty and satisfying fried chicken!

Love Handle Desserts

The dessert menu here is small and currently only consists of two items: the Chocolate Mousse Cake ($12) and Oat Milk Pudding ($8), but both were a

great way to end the meal. The Oat Milk Pudding was light and sweet with a fragrance of lemon and lime and had a firmer texture than a usual jiggly pudding.

On the other hand, the Chocolate Mousse Cake was decadent with a notable chocolate flavour and a chocolate cream, paired well with slightly tangy cherries and the crunch of candied hazelnuts. This was a personal favourite!

Noteworthy Plant-Based Eatery In Telok Ayer

The food items were delicious and did not make us ‘miss’ meat, with each dish having a unique flavour. Perfect for plant-based eaters and meat-eaters alike, Love Handle is definitely worth a visit!

Aside from its great menu and ambience, Love Handle is also at a great location within walkable distance of Outram Park and Telok Ayer, making it a great pitstop for a day of cafe-hopping. Check out Love Handle on Instagram or on their website for more information.
