Located along the same stretch as Oven Fried Chicken, Little Rogue Coffee is a new cafe that opened during the implementation of Phase 2: Heightened Alert. The cafe is further away from the hotspot of cafes such as Homeground Coffee Roasters and Kings Cart Coffee Factory.
Little Rogue Coffee in Tanjong Katong
The cafe name ‘Little Rogue’ is inspired by the cheekiness of their children and is very visible with the playpen area installed right in the middle of the cafe.
The owner of the cafe wanted a place where parents can enjoy a meal and some coffee, which explains the play area where kids can freely play (closed for now to reduce contact). Fun fact: He’s also the head chef of the cafe!
Just like the neon sign on the wall that says, ‘Coffee & Sunshine’, the kid-friendly cafe is drenched in natural lighting during the day. While the cafe is non-air-conditioned, it’s well-ventilated thanks to the abundance of ceiling fans.
Besides the play area for kids, there’s also a designated spot for cyclists who wish to drop by for a cuppa. You can park your bikes here, based on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Little Rogue Coffee Menu
They have an all-day brunch menu with items ranging from pasta, burgers to even steak. For those that want a small bite, choose from an array of pastries available to go with your coffee.
Some of their current bestsellers are the Soft Scrambled Eggs & Ikura ($14) and the Kpop Chicken Burger ($22).
There’s also a special menu for kids, with items such as Mac & Cheese ($10), Green Pesto Fusilli ($8), and Chicken Egg Noodle Soup ($10).
Spicy Soubise Rigatoni
Unlike its name, the Spicy Soubise Rigatoni ($24) isn’t all that spicy at all. It has a nice, light spiciness that goes really well with the creamy soubise sauce. The sous-vide egg was cooked perfectly, with a runny egg yolk.
The amount of crab meat in this was on the generous side in our opinion. Loved the usage of rigatoni as you get a nice balance of sauce and pasta with each bite.
House Marinated Wings (Blue Cheese)
Intrigued by the words, blue cheese, we ordered the House Marinated Wings ($12) which also comes in another option: Hot Sauce.
The wings by itself reminded us of the chicken you get at some Ayam Goreng places (not sure if we’re describing this right). However, the highlight was the blue cheese sauce.
It was creamy, cheesy, and slightly pungent. By itself, it might be too overwhelming for some, but once you dip the deep-fried crispy chicken into the sauce, it’s really not that bad.
We would have preferred for the blue cheese flavour to have been lighter but, who are we kidding, it’s called blue cheese for a reason.
Flat White
Little Rogue Coffee uses Proud Mary beans, the ones you find at Ballad of Anna May. The result is a nicely balanced cup of flat white ($5.50).
Other drinks include Kombucha ($10), Baby Chino for Kids ($4.50), and Matcha Latte ($7.50).
Kid-Friendly Cafe in The East
Looks like the East Coast Plan continues to make progress with so many new cafes in the area. Melbourne-inspired Little Rogue Coffee would be a great option for parents who are looking for kid-friendly cafes in Singapore, so they can enjoy a cuppa in peace.
